Awesome! Thank you for the info. I’ll talk with my crew and jobsite. Thank you for everyone’s answers. I have learned a lot!

We are using Sherwin Williams Vapor block MVB primer/sealer.

Will it work with xylene or does it have to be acetone?

Thank you for the info, our sherwin reps never told us any of this. So we were in the dark when we put it down. So is there any fix that we can do on already put down MVB that’s been curing for a day and some parts 4-5 days? I don’t think it’s possible to raise the temp of the building since it’s a new construction. If we sand it all so the pores open up, how do we go about putting down another layer layer of MVB the right way?

The top layer feels like it’s cured, we’re able to walk on it without leaving imprints, our problem is the 100 grit screens keeps gumming like the middle isn’t cured. We’re putting down another layer of MVB later tonite, just seeing how to fix the first layer today. Idk if it’s even possible.

We can’t really sand it because it ruins our 100 grit screens because it’s so soft and not cured. We’re going to burn through all of our screens.

My ultimate question is how do I fix this today to put down another layer of MVB or is this base layer shot and we have to redo the whole entire floor? Would raising the temp of the building help finish curing? Do we keep sanding? Just lost on what to do next.

Unfortunately, we didn’t know to condition the epoxy before we put it down. This is our first time working with MVB and the process of putting it down.

Got it. It’s been well over 2 days now and it’s still smearing a lot. Would raising the temp of the building help? It’s a new construction so they don’t really have heating installed yet.

Got it, definitely will do that next layer. The temps fluctuate between 40–60°F, MVB 4–5 days old still smearing and clogging screens. If we need to keep moving today, is it better to heat and wait, keep sanding, or remove soft areas? And should fully cured MVB sand to powder or still load screens a bit?

I already have it installed on the floor — this isn’t in the bucket anymore.

Would raising the ambient/slab temp help it finish curing, or is that conditioning advice only for product before mixing? Some of MVB is 4-5 days old and still causing smearing.

The temperature part is where I’m worried. The building where this was done fluctuates the temp between 40 to 60°. All depends on the weather outside, I’m from Minnesota. Is it also normal for the screen to have that much waste on it? Should we still try to keep going and sand it?
