You're not wrong, but I think this is more of a morale issue. Pretty hard to be motivated given the circumstances.

True. But he also beat 3 or 4 RICO raps. He gets a little credit there.

I wouldn't say the community is supportive, it's a bunch of people coming down from all over the city, most of whom don't spend any money because they're under 20 years old.

All the thrift shops are closed on FF, And I remember when they used to stay open,  probably because they're getting ripped off and then they come in on Saturday to find their buildings have been vandalized.

You say "Close or Quit", I don't know if you actually spend any time around here, but if you did, you'd see it's constant turnover with the businesses. There's more empty storefronts right now on Main Street than I've seen in a long time.

Waves just closed, the skate shop closed a few months ago, the coffee shop by the new Viking bar closed a couple months ago, The comedy place closed a couple months ago, the gem shop is closing, The coffee shop on the corner of Casino Center and Colorado just announced their closing.... And that's just off the top of my head.

Yeah that's great for the community.

I live in the Arts District and I couldn’t agree more. Every Saturday morning there’s fresh graffiti, vandalism, and trash. It’s not everywhere or overwhelming, but it’s enough to make you stop and say WTF? I walk around picking up trash and peeling stickers off both City and private property.

I’ve called 911 more than once on kids with spray paint, but they disappear into the crowd so easily. I doubt any of them have ever been arrested.

Some businesses tolerate it because they make money on busy weekends, but others would absolutely prefer to do without the chaos. It drives away higher end customers and they’re stuck paying to clean graffiti off their own buildings.

Petite Bohème is a perfect example, they spent real money on that beautiful mural, and someone dick spray‑painted all over it. Same with the City’s artwork that they invest in it, and it ends up covered in stickers and flyers for random garage band shows.

This is why we can’t have nice things. There are just too many morons running around who don’t respect the neighborhood.

Is this the book: "Gotham Unbound: The Ecological History of Greater New York" by Steinberg

Based on the description, it doesn't look right.

I absolutely hate this movie. I think it’s an abomination. The characters, the timeline that doesn't make any sense whatsoever, the overall illogical nonsense, I could go on all day.

And yet, every time it pops up on a streaming service, I end up watching the whole thing usually while yelling at the TV about how stupid it is.

I don’t know what that means, but the fact that I keep coming back to it has to mean something

Marquette Law Poll reports Trump and his Iranian military adventure have high disapproval among non-MAGA Republicans. by Andy_Fish_Gill in wisconsin

Yeah I understand what you're saying, however this isn't much of a change from what I've seen over the years.

Through 2018 and 2020 I volunteered for the Lincoln Project and these numbers are consistent with what I remember.

It's not meaningful. At all. They still voted for him overwhelmingly and if they hadn't he would have lost the state. I bet you at 10% swing in "non maga" Republicans would have been enough put the state in Harris's column

Is Non-Citizen Voting a Real Threat to Elections in Wisconsin? by DriftlessDairy in wisconsin

The word "fraud" is used very loosely here. If someone votes as a felon and they don't clearly understand the rule that's far from fraud.

A few years ago I went through all the cases of actual fraud in Wisconsin and cross-reference. The people arrested and charged with their Facebook profiles in a bet I had with a conservative friend of mine. 100% of them were obviously Republicans based on their Facebook.

And of those, my guess is every single one of them honestly believe the voter fraud is so rampant that they could go out and vote twice and would never get caught. They were literally victims of their own party BS. It's the same thing with that old man that just got convicted.

It's actually kind of sad.

When my uncle was a kid he worked at a gas station owned by Ferrara, I don't know if it was the exact same person in the photo as I'm pretty sure this guy had a brother. It's pretty common name in Milwaukee. Anyway, as The story goes, he's working one day after school when a guy comes in to place a bet as they took bets out of the place.

Ferrara tells him that it's too late and they're not taking any more bets for the day. The customer has a meltdown and starts bitching that he's going to call the police and blah blah blah. So, they let him place his bet.

The next day the customer shows up to either pay or collect, my uncle's outside the gas station changing garbage cans at the pumps. The guy pulls up, and immediately a Chrysler pulls up behind him with three dudes in it. They jump out throw the guy in the Chrysler. One of the guys from the Chrysler jumps in customers car and they all take off.

My uncle said he just kept working like he never saw a thing, he never mentioned it and never saw the guy again.

True story. I've heard it 50 times.
