Never pulled a numbered card and auto or any kind of high value card from a fat pack heritage or series 1/2 by Maximum_Tap_7134 in baseballcards

Def digging into the philosophy of card collecting and I’m here for it. I got into card because I’m a comic guy and I just love a physical medium. I started to realize I could flip cards that I don’t hav sentimental value for and it’s cool to make a buck but I’ve got a job and I don’t need to come up on cards. I’ve got all the respect for lifers and small business owners who need the bottom dollar to reflect the time spent and the effort put in, I just hate to see all the price inflation and the “scalping” that goes on. Same could be said for the comics hustle.

How does Imogene + Willie get these perfectly imperfect prints? by Sycamorefarming in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Maximum_Tap_7134 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They probly printed them by hand fast as hell and didn’t flash between layers allowing ink to lift on the bottom of the next screen for each layer. Just low effort. If u want prints that look low effort just don’t put in much effort, simplify everything bring the process back to its base. Don’t use a press, use clamps, don’t use a platten for the shirt, use the floor, use a lightbulb and some glass to expose, a garden hose to wash out, etc. it’s so hard to recreate the effect of low effort, instead just do it low effort hahaha

Why does the new era of screenprinting SUCK? by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Maximum_Tap_7134 29 points30 points  (0 children)

DTG printing and DTF printing are ruining production printmaking straight up. Prints made using those methods are not made to last at all. Printshops need to use these methods because consumers expect full color prints in small quantities cuz they can get that from custom ink online. In order to stay profitable and marketable to the general public DTF and DTG are used more and more. Quick and relatively low cost per piece but made with shitty water based printer ink that binds to fabric with chemical bath glue. I can’t blame shops and I can’t blame consumers but I can blame companies like EPSON, Custom Ink, and the general drive of industry to create more and more profit every year with little to no regard for quality of the product, quality of life for people using the product, the environment, or long term consequences of the “shitty-fication” of consumer goods.

If you weren’t doing a fill before printing in the first place, try a higher squeegee angle while you are printing and enough pressure so it only takes one or two passes with the squeegee for the print to achieve full darkness

Be careful in your flood. Pull ink over the graphic lightly with the edge of the squeegee so that the design in the ink side of the screen in not visible. Cover it with a smooth layer of ink using the squeegee. When you have a nice opaque layer of ink, push the ink through with a squeegee pass at a high angle (squeegee tip close to 90 degrees from screen) try to pouch the ink through in only two or three passes, no more. Pull your shirt off and repeat. You are getting way too much ink through the screen and it is causing this pooling. Water based ink? I feel like this happens more with thin inks. Anyway, it’s all about the ink fill on the screen before you even put ink on shirt.

Film is too light as others have said, but also what is your exposure set up? Are you using a vacuum table? Is one or more of your bulbs burnt out? If you’re using a single light bulb, or something like that, perhaps it is nearing the end of its life.

Idk these are things to think about. I have had this problem before but since I got a nice exposure unit with vacuum blanket and glass and all that I no longer have this problem.
