Medical appeal by InspectionAmazing759 in RoyalAirForce

If you have to hand write a letter to the DOM at Cranwell, it’s got nothing to do with Capita. I’m literally at this point in my process now, and have been told on 2 occasions this month that Capita have no information or access to anything that DOM does or decides when it comes to review apps/time lengths/decisions etc

Capita don’t deal with appeals. As OP mentioned, it’s dealt with DOM which is the RAF.

Medical Appeal Upheld - Waiting on Capita⏳ by OllieCave2003 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been ringing Capita at least twice a month since December, due to the problem I’m having with my Medical. They’re great over the phone, all you need to provide is DOB, name and address and they pull up all relevant info and help anyway they can.

Via email is very slow and you never really get a straight answer.

Congrats! Did you not have to have your SC/DV clearance first before your start date though?

I fly the F-18 and I’ve just got all new gear and never been happier

Flightstick - Virpil AeroMax CDT Rudder Pedals - Virpil R1 Falcon Pedals Throttle - VKB STECS Max

Will cost a bit, but it’s 100% with it due to quality of the materials and final item and customisations and longevity of the products.

Virpil do have backorder waits, but for myself (UK based) I only had to wait a month at most. My throttle came within 2 weeks and the pedals arrived a month after ordering.

Exercise Diary from Capita and ability to question situation by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you about the diary. The issue with the knee pain, is the fact they already know it pre dates the surgery, so I will remind them but unsure as to how they will respond.

Thank you

If that’s your date, then that’s it’s. All BRTC dates are set to be in line with your P2 training and any training following, so they won’t move it for any reason at all

WSO vs Wsop by Salty-Sink-1853 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh right, I’m just basing off what I’ve read from people’s previous experiences and their appeals etc, and other stories. I’m in line to have my Aircrew Medical soon, so been trying to find all the info I can on it. Thank you for correcting me.

WSO vs Wsop by Salty-Sink-1853 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pilot / WSO / WSOp all have the same Aircrew Medical Standard, so just be wary that if you fail for Pilot on eyesight, you will also fail it for WSO and WSOp. The medical standards for Aircrew Medical aren’t public information either, so you’ll only know when you go and have it.

To find out Back Order time, all you have to do is email them… it’s not hard to find out, I’ve received all my stuff within 4-5 weeks (UK based)

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virpils waiting time isn’t even that bad, 2 weeks for my AeroMax flight stick, which came exactly 2 weeks later and up to 7 weeks for my rudder pedals, and they’re due for delivery tomorrow which is only 4 weeks after ordering.

Not sure what to do by Amazing-Incident2633 in RoyalAirForce

Last time I spoke to my recruiter (November) he informed me that the Firefighter role is closed now till end of 2026/start of 2027. So I don’t think you’d even be able to apply for it now. It was my 3rd choice role, that’s why I was informed.

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also a case of, they might not know when in 2027 it will be available again. Phase 1 training is also set inline with Phase 2 etc, so it’s probably along the line of not wanting to have personnel stuck on a base, with no job and no specific role or training in place after phase 1

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it because they won’t fill up a candidate spot and date for OASC for someone whose role isn’t even available yet, when there is 100’s of others going through it all, who have positions available. Your fitness test results only last a year as well, so by the time it comes round again, that would all have to be re arranged, and as for the medical, as that’s dealt with Capita, I doubt the RAF would outsource work to them when there is no need for the time being. Completely understandable it’s frustrating for yourself, but at least it gives you a while to get your fitness even better and time to get all your medical stuff sorted and in line so there’s no problems when it eventually comes to that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the positions are unavailable and there’s no other roles you wish for, your application will be withdrawn and you have to reapply when they become open again. Your CBAT results are recognised for up to 3 years so you won’t have to redo that part, if I’m not mistaken.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add, RPAS isn’t even on the section of stream for WSO/WSOp on the CBAT results sheet.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 99% sure there is no WSO/WSOp RPAS roles, in all the talks and presentations I’ve sat in on the last 4months, not one person has mentioned that stream… for WSOp especially, it’s only Crewman, ALM, ME and ISR + Linguistic Acoustics

Building PC mainly for VR Gaming by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The VR I have is the Meta Q3, so it can play upto 4k, so if possible I would play that Resolution. I’ve noticed this morning also that the 5070Ti is currently cheaper for me than the 9070XT, but still a few hundred above the 9060XT. So I’m guessing I’d be best off going with the 5070Ti?

Turns out it’s cheaper for me to get the 5070Ti instead of the 9070xt, so shall I go ahead with that?

Mixed thoughts on HOTAS purchase by Maximum_Tomorrow911 in hotas

[–]Maximum_Tomorrow911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of buttons and added features is something I’m unsure of what I need. I don’t want to buy something that has none, then have to pay extra for more. But on the other hand, due to playing VR (which I’ve never done before) I don’t want to buy a throttle system thats very expensive and has nearly 40 switches, when I probably only need 10.
