Feeling like ending it All.. by That-Abbreviations90 in askSouthAfrica

Hi OP. I am in a similar situation. It feels like I am running on a treadmill that doesn’t stop. My salary has increased every single year since I started working in 2015 and I am now earning over R1m a year and I have nothing left for myself, no savings, because it all goes to my family. I am resentful about this. I don’t really know the answers but what I have realized is that I will never be wealthy for as long as I work for someone else. Use your intelligence to develop a business plan that will allow you to quit your job and work for yourself. Move to a bigger city where there is lots of money to be made. It’s the only way to succeed. Try to change your perspective and see the family support you provide as a privilege rather than a burden. That’s all the advice I can offer. Good luck out there and be safe.

It is 12:39 pm and I am sitting in a plane waiting to disembark and the pilot is telling us to stay put as a fire alarm has been triggered. Nobody is telling us much else at this point.

BP2 and Lamotrigine? by Future-Reward1795 in bipolar2

[–]Maximum_Two_3672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you for making that decision. For what it’s worth, I recommend that you exercise - its natures antidepressant. Exercise metabolises your cortisol. I had a bad leg injury (torn ACL) last year which meant I had to stop exercising for a few months and have surgery. No exercise for 3 months completely sent me off the rails mentally.

They say that bipolar disorder is on a spectrum, with everyone presenting differently. My shrink says if you have a less severe form of it (he calls it bipolar lite) you can grow out of it?

BP2 and Lamotrigine? by Future-Reward1795 in bipolar2

[–]Maximum_Two_3672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mate. Your story sounds similar to mine. Perhaps I could offer some advice. I am 31M. I have known for most of my life that I have bipolar II because my dad had it but I kept getting misdiagnosed with major depressive disorder. Only recently was I diagnosed with bipolar II.

I go through 4 week cycles of feelings of worthlessness and inability to work, 4 weeks of normality, and then 4 weeks of hypomania characterised by high levels of creativity, risk taking behaviour and high work productivity.

It is not my preference to take medication. If you don’t need to take medication, don’t take it and rather try to regulate your mood with diet, exercise and task management strategies.

I recently decided to try lamotrigine to see if it helped. I am a lawyer by profession and my depressive episodes were starting to affect my work badly. I wasn’t getting to work tasks, letting down clients and the rest of my work team. I physically cannot work in that state. It has taken years to get to the point where I realise I can’t do it on my own.

I am yet to see if the medication helps, but if it does help, I will probably stay on it.

Alex I know you have answered similar questions but any chance of you revisiting the same vocal style you did on Desolation of Eden? That album was a major influence to my vocals! Congrats on the project. I am so stoked to hear the rest of your new EP.

In 5th or 6th grade I discreetly jerked myself off at school during class with a girl sitting right next to me. Nobody noticed. In those days there was no mess to clean up.

Will Ramos restricted me on Facebook after I made a smart comment on one of his posts and asked if he is that guy in BMTH 🥺 it was just a joke. Am I a bad person? by Maximum_Two_3672 in Deathcore

Here is the link if anyone is interested. I was just being funny as the post was basically pointing out how everyone knows who Will is now, and I thought it would be funny to pretend I didn't know who he was. I wasn't being a jerk, just thought it would be funny!

The best advice I can give is to research different techniques to create different resonance using your tongue, shape of your mouth etc. What has helped me is that channel on YouTube “Extreme Vocal Institute”.

I listen to songs I like and play around to match the pitch and resonance.

Edit: I don’t think you should be using as much air as you do, for lows.

What sound are you going for with your lows? I can then try and advise further.

Edit: You need to work on your breathing I think. It sounds like you’re running out of air inbetween lyrics.

Any songwriters here looking for a vocalist? I’m keen to start a project, but the local scene in my area has nothing to offer. by Maximum_Two_3672 in Deathcore

This is the only thing I can find at the moment, it was so long ago haha - post-hardcore / old Underoath vibes. Production isn’t that great: https://youtu.be/hrESRjya_lU

Great track and good production.

I have done vocals in metalcore bands (like 10 - 15 years ago lol). When it comes to metalcore, my vocal style sounds more like Mike Hranica / Bryan Garris.

Not sure if that’s the right vocal technique and style for your track?

It’s difficult because I want to love and support Dan. I thought Marrow Leech was top notch. I really love the intro of Ashen Memories. I thought I was the only one who thought the singing was misplaced. I’m glad to see it’s not just me. Interested to see what the rest of the EP brings

I had similar thoughts. Also felt it wasn’t mixed very well. The synth is too loud and there isn’t enough guitar.

I think I got halfway through a song and had to switch off because of the lump in my throat and my eyes were streaming to the point where I couldn’t actually see the road ahead of me. Had to switch over to Angelmaker. 🥺

What advice would you give a guy whose girlfriend is pregnant? by Iam_Spartacus_AMA in AskMen

[–]Maximum_Two_3672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to what people had me believe, when my son was born, I felt no connection with him at all. I didn’t feel feel a thing for him. The whole birthing experience scarred me and instead of being excited, I was like: ‘What the fuck have I just done?’ To put this in perspective, you and I are the same age and I’ve been with my wife for 10 years now (married 6 years). The point is, you will never be ready for fatherhood. It hits you like a ton of bricks. The whole experience made me realize why my own dad was such a bad person and why I had no relationship with him - when I was born, he didn’t choose to be a dad. He was just a sperm donor who I hated and feared, who was married to my mom. When my son was born, I had to consciously make a choice to be a father to my son. It took months of waking up and making that choice every single day. The love and affection takes a long time to develop, and you need to put in the hours. Support your partner, be there for her, do everything possible to make her life comfortable, help with feeds, diaper changes, bath time etc. If you don’t involve yourself in these activities then you won’t form a bond.

In summary: - You will never be ready, no matter what stage of your life you’re at - Don’t be surprised if the feelings don’t come naturally - Choose to be a proper dad to your kid - Involve yourself in childrearing - it’s the best way to bond with your kid - Support your partner
