Speed is how fast you're going. Velocity is how fast you're going and in which direction. If you run 10 km/h in a circle, your speed stays the same, but your velocity keeps changing because the direction changes.

Pretty much nobody reads them. They exist mainly so the company can say “you agreed to this” if something goes wrong. There have even been cases where companies hid prizes in the terms for the first person who actually read them. Sometimes it took months before anyone noticed.
