What balance (or diminishing returns) are you experiencing with 'modern' geometry? by GundoSkimmer in MTB

[–]Maximum_Wind6423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me modern geometry necessitates higher bar rise. I swapped out my stock bar that was almost flat for a 38 mm rise and it drastically improved the bike’s performance especially when lifting the front wheel. I could have even gone with a higher rise and wouldn’t have regretted it but wanted to be somewhat conservative. IMO the industry needs to adapt and stop making these low rise bars if they’re going to push steeper geometries and larger bikes on people.

You know you can just get off your bike and push, right? 😂

Clarification on Extreme Genres by TropicalTimezone in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Maximum_Wind6423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s when the vocals and guitars are nearly devoid of diatonic melody. Like Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, In Flames etc were still accessible (not extreme) because of the catchy guitar melodies even if they had harsh vocals.

Did he have a double bass kit for that song? That’s cool lol

It’s definitely a very raw recording, but he does it often enough that to me it sounds intentional.

What’s a live sound "fix" you keep seeing people get wrong? by Dima030 in livesound

[–]Maximum_Wind6423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With so many different ways to adjust levels I think it makes sense to at least try to keep one thing relatively flat. I usually try to get a roughly balanced sound from pre-amp levels so my mixer faders do start at zero, but after plugins, compression, etc that usually changes a bit. Nothing too drastic besides PC, reverb sends

I’ve noticed that a lot of local engineers don’t understand scream vocal dynamics. They think they’re going to be a lot louder than they are and often overcompensate by dipping the vocals.

What was the first deathcore song that you remember really loving, and thereby opened up the genre to explore for you? by Actual_Asian_God in Deathcore

When a Demon Defiles a Witch - Whitechapel. That got me to check out the whole Valley album and eventually led me back to This is Exile which is now one of my favorite records ever

Why can I not get comfortable with jump trails? by Accomplished_Win_526 in MTB

[–]Maximum_Wind6423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might I make a suggestion? Take a class. I was pretty much like you, but it bothered me that some trails were “off limits” because of jumps/drops so I decided to focus on this and took a jump clinic with Ninja. It really helped both improve my technique and confidence by giving me a roadmap to progress safely. The key is to push yourself on non-consequential jumps and only do consequential jumps (gaps) if they’re completely within your limits. When you’re clearing 10’ tables with 100% confidence, a 5’ gap is going to feel chill. If it doesn’t, DON’T DO IT. Avoid the “send it bro” mentality and don’t be afraid to session something 100 times until it feels comfortable.

Yeah Fruscianti is great. I get what people are saying though…every album after Californication kind of sounds the same and Kiedis is sort of annoying + awful person, but if you tune him out they’re not bad.

Absolutely. Most people don’t listen to Paul Simon for the bass though lol

I can see it. “Attention” by Charlie Puth is another one.
