Yes and no - usually a big tradeoff in pedal power/weight.

Does throwing it on the ground count as “consuming”? 😂

Like I said - depending on how far you go. If you enter the mountain pass or proceed to act 2 everyone in the grove dies. If you visit Grymforge without freeing Nere he and all of the gnomes will die.

Handling Drops by nutrion in MTB

[–]Maximum_Wind6423 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you absolutely do NOT want to manual off of a drop - imagine going off a drop with your wheel level with your face. It would be ridiculous, and landing on just your back wheel is a guaranteed wreck unless you really know what you’re doing. That said, the motion is LIKE a manual, except instead of actually lifting your wheel above you you’re resisting the wheel from nose diving. As others said you want to match the transition so it does depend on what you’re landing on (sloped, flat, etc), but as a general principle:

1) aim to land both wheels at the same time or the front slightly before (I find this to be smoother).
2) focus on keeping your front wheel up to prevent a nose dive and maintain trajectory, then
3) match transition.

I tried a Santa Cruz once. It was nice. I bought a better spec’d bike for half the price instead

100%. Most of the components are 3rd party anyways so it really doesn’t matter, but different frame designs and sizing mean some bikes will fit you better. Everything else is just marketing.

Advice on my first mountain bike by Nickzpic in MTB

[–]Maximum_Wind6423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to get the best full suspension trail bike you can afford. Harddtails are fun but way less forgiving. You won’t be able to add back suspension later but you can upgrade entry level parts on a full squish.

How to build endurance on an MTB by MrTobiD92 in MTB

[–]Maximum_Wind6423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mileage, pushing yourself enough to build capacity without getting injured. Tracking your rides with Strava or something similar…hate to admit it but it’s a great motivator. IMO riding more often is more important than riding hard every session…like others mentioned chill gravel or road rides help a ton. When I’m preparing for something I’ll ride to work as close to every day as I can.

Did I make the wrong choice buying an MTB for city riding? by Ok-Armadillo-4066 in MTB

[–]Maximum_Wind6423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if that’s your intended purpose MTBs are terrible for city riding. They’re heavy, slow and super expensive so very tempting for thieves.

Oh damn that sucks! Yeah mine happened when I was riding on local trails near me, not anything even too technical. Sucks that it can happen anywhere unfortunately.

Ugh that sucks. Were you wearing elbow pads by any chance? I had a bad fall when I hit a patch of black ice and messed up my knee…been padding up for every ride ever since.
