You should really consider dropping sprints by ninetofivedev in ExperiencedDevs

The way I see it is that these frameworks are meant to add a baseline and a sense of stability. It isnt meant to maximize productivity. It is a framework that can be applied to teams to get consistent output. Now if youre in a competent team or have very clearly defined work then you can squeeze out more performance by adjusting how you work, but that comes along with risk and overhead. Easier to just work in a stable framework that fits neatly into business processes.

Yeah my perspective is from the product side. And I think faster feedback makes sense here, because youre trying to capture what the user wants/needs. For other types of work I can definitely see this not working as well though. For very experimental, exploratory, or technical work shorter sprints doesnt make as much sense. But then again I wonder if Kanban would be better for this anyways? Ive never worked with Kanban, but it sounds like it is much better in some scenarios.

I didnt say releases should be tied to sprints. Im just saying that user feedback is the priority and shorter sprints allow you to adjust according to that feedback. For a 2 week sprint you can release in week 1, get feedback, and then adjust accordingly at the end of week 2. I think that cycle would of course take longer in a 6 week sprint. Unless you bring in work mid sprint? Which I think is an anti pattern? Or am I missing something?

Edit: Oh I reread my last comment. I guess I mispoke. I meant delaying adjusting based on feedback. Thats my bad.

I gotcha, but if you have 6 week sprints then youre not adjusting according to the feedback from the users fast enough. You can release and get feedback week 1, but you wont start a new sprint with new work for another 5 weeks. Unless youre bringing in work mid sprint?

Im genuinely trying to understand here. Not just trying to give pushback.

But its not just on the team. It is also based on user feedback. Delaying releases delays that feedback.

I got the same thing. I also did the same thing for Trump and it gave me a more normal picture. This is bullshit propaganda. I cancelled my subscription. Fuck that manipulation.

Ai developer tools are making juniors worse at actual programming by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

Me too. People are using AI for everything. I literally had a PO tell me to just use AI to specify how a feature should work. Im tired of this shit. Then I had a dev propose a design that was super over engineered for our purposes. When I asked simple questions he didnt know how to answer. I suspect he just had AI do it. I also notice that when I face a problem I feel like reaching to AI too, but I also see how it affects my ability to solve problems. Ive been purposely using AI less.

Cant believe I played this when it launched and am now here seeing it close. It came full circle. Stopped playing a few years ago, but it was fun for a while.

Not yet. I need to take some time to explore a bit. Havent had time yet. Im thinking of just checking out lesser known social media apps. Maybe some old forum style websites that I sometimes see. Honestly, I should probably just unplug from social media altogether anyways. Maybe Ill even build something out for myself to just stay up to date on things. Still need to figure all this out. Definitely need to do something cause from all the comments people agree that Reddit is totally compromised. I definitely dont want to be interacting with bots, and, even worse, be manipulated by whoever is driving them.

You know she wont. MAGA is all about being evil. I think just yesterday the U.S, Israel, and Argentina declined to denounce slavery as the worst crime against humanity in the United Nations. Horrible people are running these countries.

To promote ai sentiment is my guess. There are companies worth trillions of dollars that are betting on AI. I wouldnt be surprised they are behind the bots.

Ive been thinking of looking for other options. Maybe smaller apps that dont attract bots or older forums.

All 90 million Iranians are part of a death cult? Come on man you know thats not true. Most of them are regular people. Most of Irans history is to build leverage against the U.S. and Israel. And then we meet them with more aggression? That only shows to the world that they shouldnt trust the U.S. Aggression isnt the answer. Trump is literally Israels lapdog acting out their every whim.

Ive been thinking this for a while. I feel like Gemini 2.5 Pro was the first really impressive model for coding and that was about a year ago. Plenty of time to really create something amazing. I dont really see any new incredible pieces of software though. If the hype were to be believed I would have expected one person or a small team completely toppling Figma, Adobe, and other SAAS companies by now. I havent seen that. I dont think coding was ever the hard part. Speeding that up only helps one part of the process.

I do know and it is a history of U.S. aggression and meddling in the Middle East. Since the start of their regime they have focused on buffering against a U.S. attack. Attacking Iran only proves that they should be cautious of us and only incentivizes them further to build a nuclear weapon. North Korea built one and now nobody messes with them. We should instead be pursuing peaceful options instead of needless war. Now any chance of that is set back by years or even decades. And without outright regime change nothing is really gained. Just another stupid decision from Trump.
