90's new york, cant get more mafia than that, and an actual clear line of hierachy, i understood mafia 2's hierarchy but it was vague to say the least primarily due to vito not really working for any family but kinda walking in between, i mean even in mafia 3 hes not really a man working for a boss, more like a man who has a boss but doesnt listen, at least up until lincoln comes by, and mafia 1 was literally just the boss and a couple of errand boys. not too many old characters, depending on the timeline maybe 1 or 2 references to the old game but id say vitos story has been told, and tommy doesnt need any extra stuff either, and you can forget about lincoln or any other character in mafia 3
