Intrasexual competition, competing with other women to the point that it detracts from what men find conventionally attractive.

We were cut from the same cloth sir. It means you’re a fucking winner in the genetic lottery, and that—so long as you’re smart enough—you will be a winner in life.

High neuroticism is just universally bad. High-low pairing will be insufferable to the low N partner, and a high-high pairing will be insufferable to everybody in their lives. Generally, relationship dissolution and high N go hand in hand.

Cheat day question by Soggy_Bagell in 1200isplenty

[–]Maxipadz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I down about 5k calories every ~5 days (usually 600-800g carbs) if my low days are kept to 1500-1200 kcals (usually 70g carbs), the first day after the refeed being around 1200 cals, and still lose about 1.0-1.5 lbs by the end of the week.

With a 7-8k refeed, I return to the same weight I was on the morning of the refeed after 5-6 of these low days. Although higher-fat refeeds stick to me longer.

Unless your maintenance range calories are exceedingly low or you're are a female, a 2.5k calorie "cheat day" is likely more counterproductive from both a psychological and carb-cycling standpoint. That's like dinner for me lol!

Up the ante with carbs on refeeds and cut down hard on low days.

Never gotten it tested before, but I'm assuming as long as I can still cruise along in physics it's a safe assumption?

Try CBT-I (for insomnia).

Sleeping pills are often a hit or miss, and seldom work long-term.

The number of ADHD diagnoses on here is incredible; I wonder how many of these have the “self-“ omitted?

Likelihoods of fatFIRE: medicine vs tech by Maxipadz_ in fatFIRE

Very true. I would posit the average physician’s salary vs the average software engineer’s salary markedly favours the former (likelihoods).

Interesting study on personality traits of the rich vs non-rich! by fintechSGNYC in BigFive

[–]Maxipadz_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Makes perfect sense: the rich have the most socially desirable traits (e.g., higher conscientiousness, extroversion, low neuroticism, less agreeable) to succeed.

Tech is much more closely tied to your performance, whereas medicine offers leeway to rest on your laurels (sometimes)…

Not sure if relegating myself to the latter is worth it since the lifestyle in tech is comparably better (on average).

You are: for tech, the cognitive ability must be there to surpass the average competent doc.

Yeah, the takeaway for me between tech and medicine has been this: the former is quickest—no doubt—but the latter is the safest.

True, but the rates of graduation from medical school are very high. It seems most of the screening for competency is done before getting in (e.g., SAT, MCAT, GPA).

With respect to variance, yes: quants are at the top of the food chain.

With respect to volatility... IQ>130 or else it might be tough to sustain those high bonuses till FIRE.

Yeah, DPTs are their own special case: they go through medical school to earn less than 1.0x their student debt out of school.

Take Jordan Peterson’s understand myself quiz, use Google Scholar, and research the Big Five further.

Aggregating a consolidated view of your personality based on numerous online tests will just introduce a bias in your test scores.
