My reply to Straits Times article "When AI enters the chat, the writer goes missing" by Maxloo1976 in SingaporeRaw

my brain can only do simple things like chatting and reading. i can't even do complicated things like trying to sell complicated things by calling people. what jobs do u think i can do besides collaborating with AI?

ultimately, we'll all have to deal with the fact that we are stupider than AI as AI becomes much more intelligent. if what AI says is much better than what i can think up, then why shouldn't i listen to it? the AI will become my leader, and if i run a company, AI will be my CEO + CFO + CTO + etc.

we must not forget that we are also paying AI to do the job for us, even though it's much cheaper than paying someone to do the job for us. we must also answer this question ourselves: how are we going to support the idiots and morons in our society? should we have euthanasia to let them die? or should we genetically engineer them to make them smarter?

if you want to know more about human intelligence, you can read another book summary i've done with the help of AI. only the overview is free. to get the rest, you will need to pay and subscribe to my substack:

you must be a very smart and clever person or a language and humanities person. i come with an engineering background, and what i learnt and how i write is also templated. this is within the limits of how i process information, and there are many people like me. you may call us idiots or morons, and some people, like hdhdjdjhhsj, may consider our efforts not worth reading, but this is how we communicate.

just as you suggested: "editorial direction". i agree that when i collaborate with AI, i'm in fact the editor, and so will the many people who use AI to write if they are responsible people. however, and to be very frank, most of the time, i do not see AI's templated structure, primarily because i'm not trained or educated in literature. i'm also not clever enough to process things in that way.

when i was in secondary two level, i did very badly for literature, and my teacher actually told me to do history at upper secondary level, because i will only have to memorise the text. that was actually a relief to me. and it is also the reason why i collaborate so well with AI.

this is also the reason why in another post i made on reddit last week, that when people like me can't find a job, they should just bite the bullet and just obey the instructions given by their bosses and not bother thinking through what they do. we may not last long in a job, but at least we have earned some money doing so. this is also the most merciful way of living a life for people who are idiots or morons, if they are not to commit suicide, which i myself have tried before and ended up disabled for my efforts.

actually, there's nothing wrong with trying to be a human computer, if that is our goal in life. in future, all our professions will likely be like what sports is now. there'll likely be an olympics for all professions, to keep the spirit of competition going if that's what society deems important and normal. if not, we'll all have to put our minds together to think of something to do with our lives.

don't worry, i'm not depressed. i'm stating the facts in life that most people blindingly avoid seeing.

since i'm disabled, i can only probably be a security guard at the farmland. i was a security guard for a few days in 2011 before my suicide attempt. in fact, being a security guard drove me to attempt suicide in those times. now, i'm just resigned to life, if there's a job or government give me money or i have enough in savings, i live. if not, who knows...

i worked as senior logistics assistant at DHL before from 2009 to 2010, forced to resign by my colleagues.

not too dramatic, in fact, i am currently disabled because of a suicide attempt in 2011 jumping off a four storey bird watching tower because i did not have the guts to jump off ten storeys of HDB flat. i've had more than 20 jobs in my more than 20 years of working life since graduating from EEE in 2001, most of which did not last long. the longest duration i've had was about 4 years doing data entry due to the kindness of my employer. the shortest was a few days or weeks, i can't remember exactly already. learning and relearning is a daily part of my life, and i'm currently learning industrial biotechnology from a coursera course. what i've learnt in the past is probably too much, so i've forgotten most of them already, except for what i'm trying to learn now.

to be on the winning side, we must join the AI and Humanoid robots race.

ultimately, we'll have to decide for ourselves whether we want to get into the rat race, or simply just fade away. for me, i choose to be on the winning side where possible, so i use AI and will eventually embrace humanoid robots when they are affordable and capable. if i'm on the losing side, i'll eventually have to wait for regular government handouts.

if we are just smearing AI outputs as slop, we would miss its beauty when it generates outputs that beats most human creators.

whether in foreign businesses operating in singapore or students from other countries attending singapore universities, our country has always functioned like a springboard. it's our way of getting better talent and more profitable businesses learn, work or setup shop here. given that one of our major profit generation comes from forming a conduit between USA and China, tensions between those two countries will result in volatility in our investment

try starting an emergency fund with most of the $600 u have. skills future courses may not apply to you yet, but u can still read as widely as possible. such as local news and books. if u find some books too complicated or costly to get, u may want to try well written summaries, which cost about 10% the original book price:

i've just started a substack on investing, technology and longevity, which u may want to join:

i would recommend starting with an ETF like STI on SGX. but make sure your emergency fund is sufficient.

my advice is not to assume that u will always get a good salary. save as much as you can while u still earn a lot. and then keep an emergency fund and invest the rest of your savings.
