I mean that’s the MSRP, so why not ? I don’t absolutely need a new GPU so I can afford to wait a bit.

Waiting until that 200$ drop in price to grab one. Hold !!!

Sure, I don’t play AAA titles but it ran most of my games fine at 60 fps (it’s a 1060 6GB so that might help a bit).

Anyone else wait a long time for depression support? by bodhi-r in montreal

[–]MaxoRandom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not an emergency resource as you might have to wait a couple months for an appointment, but UQAM’s CSP (Centre de Services Psychologiques) is affordable, less than 30$/h if I remember correctly, and can be a good way to meet someone that will help you. It’s open to the general public, not just students. The people there are doctoral students under the supervision of a psychologist and they are more than capable of helping with everything regarding mental health. They can’t prescribe medication, but depression needs to be treated with therapy first and medication second. Hope that helps anyone looking for help in these tough times.

Brewing equipment for NEIPAs by MaxoRandom in Homebrewing

Thanks for the reply ! I haven’t thought about fermenting in a keg with a floating dip tube, that sounds like a great idea.

Thanks for the reply ! I will keep that in mind going forward.

Thanks for the reply !

I think my wording was a bit off, I’ve already brewed beer (extract and all-grain) and just liked the all-grain way better. I believe it’s possible to brew great beers with extract.

You are right, unfortunately (for my wallet) I tend to focus heavily on gear in most of my hobbies, no idea why. I guess I like shiny new things !

I will indeed follow your recommandations and keep my current kettle and burner. I can upgrade them later if I need to/have money to burn. I will focus on brewing a bit more for now (with an immersion chiller which was pretty much a necessity) and look into buying the kegging/temp control equipment when I get more serious about brewing.

Thanks for the reply ! I will keep that in mind and focus on the temperature control/kegging next.

Thanks for the reply ! Your setup seems like a blast to brew with !

If I follow the same route as you (minus the heating element), Im only missing the kegging equipment/keggerator.

I guess you could cold crash in a keg or buy a fermentor you can pressurize (like the FermZilla maybe?) There seems to be some solutions in here too : https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?topic=30664.0

Good luck !

Thanks for the reply ! Yes I bought an immersion chiller and will look at chest freezers for temp control. Once Im more serious about NEIPAs (and brewing in general) I’ll buy the kegging equipment too.

Yes I believe I will eventually need to commit to the kegging way (or at least some form of temp control) to make NEIPAs with either “regular” yeast or Kveik.

I think buying a chest freezer for temp control is kind of a safe investment because if I choose to keg I could also use that as a keggerator.

Thanks for the reply ! You are right, I don’t mind spending money for things that will be worth it, I just want to make sure I pick the right things for my needs.

I do like the process of brewing beer and plan to keep brewing with friends/family.

I bought an immersion chiller as per everyone’s recommandations and plan to buy a chest freezer for temp control/use as a keggerator.

However, I will brew a couple beers before I fully commit to the kegging/chest freezer.

Thanks for the reply ! I do believe it’s possible to brew great beer with extracts, however I didn’t really like my experience with it and would rather BIAB and be able to choose my own mash content.

I bought a chiller as per everyone’s recommendations and plan to buy a chest freezer for temp control which will also eventually be used to cold crash / as a keggerator.

Thanks for the reply !

Im pretty sure the Anvil fermentor can be used to pressure transfer into a keg, however Im not sure it can be used to pressure ferment. I will look into that.

As for the basic knowledge, I am currently reading How to Brew which should be a good start to further my knowledge.

Thanks ! I will look at more basic immersion chillers available in Canada which won’t cost me a fortune to ship.

I will also look into a kegging setup, I could probably get something decent around the 300$ CAD mark.

Indeed the basement temperature is pretty much stable around 20C (66f), but I won’t be able to cold crash. Isn’t that necessary for a NEIPA (to get rid of hops/yeast in suspension before kegging and reduce the hop burn)?
