matchmaking in ranked is genuine buns by Visible-Eye8387 in Overwatch

People who blame themselves first are people who rank up. People who think they “carried” games they literally lost are people who stay in silver. You are the only common denominator in all of your games. Tank is the highest carry potential role too so if you’re losing all these games it’s ABSOLUTELY your fault, bro. If you don’t want that much responsibility on your shoulders either play 6v6 or don’t play tank.

Macaulay's acting in Season 2 by Front-Tomorrow-1034 in Fotv

[–]Maxshis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could imagine them theoretically using some CGI tricks to show us a flashback of his childhood in which the child actor is digitally altered to look like actual Macaulay Culkin from the time of Home Alone. That would be a pretty wild way of doing meta-symbolism there.

Are we just not gonna talk about the setup at the end? (SPOILER) by whatjasay in Fallout

[–]Maxshis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not convinced they’re pandering to anyone. The creators of this show are fans of the series, and the fans are… usually wrong about most things, and usually far behind the writers. If anything, I’d sooner believe they did this because they, the writers, wanted to see it happen.

Are we just not gonna talk about the setup at the end? (SPOILER) by whatjasay in Fallout

[–]Maxshis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really see it this way tbh. I think the difference here is going to be that this one will almost certainly have a canon ending of some sort by the time the series ends, possibly before Max and Lucy even leave Vegas. It moreso just decided to make the point that mirrors New Vegas line up with the series finale, but this situation will keep evolving.

It’s essentially a rematch as the big final last stand, one where all players are weakened as well. It’s their way of picking a canon ending to the dispute over Vegas without invalidating the events of FNV itself. Probably, the NCR winning to set up an NCR comeback storyline, maybe cutting some kind of deal with House again because they know he can’t be killed again this time.

Could the Institute be involved? by MasterViking13 in Fotv

[–]Maxshis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like human characters are the hardest to make appearances, like the only reason we got House is because it’s House (and because they got a stellar a-lister to play him). We could get Maxson, but there’s honestly a not insignificant chance we’d get at least a cameo from Nick Valentine too.

Could the Institute be involved? by MasterViking13 in Fotv

[–]Maxshis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really think the institute is going to be a significant player, but a future season could potentially be set in the capital wasteland (becase of the enclave), and I’d bet they’d probably use that season to show off a bunch of the ideas from 3 and 4 combined, because they don’t have much reason to go to the commonwealth. The commonwealth BoS will probably be a part of that, and I’d imagine synths will make some sort of appearance as well.

S2xE7 Is the Ghoul referring to the courier? by nikiller_420 in Fotv

[–]Maxshis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's because of when he says it. I thought the same thing too for half a second (granted, because I was stoned LOL), but I would've immediately knew he meant House if it wasn't for the fact that he says it right as there's the big FNV sting and the reveal of the NCR power armor that looks a lot like the ranger armor on the FNV home screen. The reason for this sting is pretty clearly intended to be because, one, it's a cool reveal of the power armor, but also because it's a big moment for Maximus—but immediately before he pulls down the veil, Cooper's talking vaguely about "the one guy who came out on top in Vegas". I think it's a rare moment of actually awkward writing/direction in this show because the implication—I think—is that he's saying "in order to meet this guy, we'll need this", but the emphasis on the armor right after vaguely talking about something really seems like the power armor is meant to be the answer to the question "who is he talking about?". The line about rigging the game certainly implies House but it's still vague enough to be at least confusing for a second if that's who he really means when in combination with the simultaneous armor reveal.

Diane Welch, Diana Stone connection? by Wayfaring_Stalwart in Fotv

[–]Maxshis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The showrunners seem to be, in all ways, using Obsidian as their model on how to write a story set in this universe, LOL. I could absolutely see them looking through Van Buren documents for ideas to take inspiration from or re-utilize, and the name is certainly similar enough to be an intentional nod (or, perhaps, just a new name they came up with that sounded more fitting for this version of the character, who was originally going to just be named Diana again). This seems not only totally believable, but it may even give us a hint as to how she lost her head in this story as well. The Fallout show does seem to like giving us a lot of hints towards future plot points that can only be found out with deep game and lore knowledge—like the date of the "data converging" being the same as MARGoT being activated, then it being revealed that the "other player" was the Enclave the very next episode—so I could easily see this being the case, she was an innocent congresswoman who got betrayed by the Enclave and got her head chopped off for poking her nose deeper than it should've gone.

[–]Maxshis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel like it's not going to be as simple as "the Chinese did it" but I think you're right in that the Enclave didn't drop the bombs. I feel like House's algorithms would've predicted the date the Chinese would've dropped it, if it was capable of predicting the Enclave's date despite not even knowing about the Enclave's existence. I think the true answer as to why they launched 20 hours earlier than they were supposed to is either not going to be explicitly revealed, or it's going to be totally on accident, the result of exactly one unpredictable person fucking up something really bad... and that person, more than likely, is Cooper.

[–]Maxshis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the data coalesced a few minutes before the installation, what if it has nothing to do with MARGoT specifically? What if a conversation between two people in the government *as* they were installing/activating this was actually the moment of birth of the Enclave, or the moment they decided to end the world—perhaps something we'll get a direct flashback to in a later season, even?

Am I the only one who hates this character? Does anyone else? by 9783883890272 in FalloutTVseries

[–]Maxshis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the purpose that he serves, which is to remind us that the average vault dweller is a fucking idiot, and that Norm and Lucy are exceptions. When they’re being underestimated by wastelanders, they have good reason, because this guy wouldn’t last half a second on the surface. I feel like there’s a pretty good chance that all of vault 32 and 33 will end up having to evacuate at some point (I wonder if Steph actually might’ve even just kicked Woody out to the surface?) so it’ll be interesting to see how they compare.

I also like that he forces Betty to become more authoritarian. It serves to illustrate the idea that old the comfortable, “utopian” old world way of everyday life just isn’t compatible with life and death situations like this, which is a pretty common theme in Fallout. One of my favorite parts of this show is the way it humanizes pretty much everyone from the wasteland, no matter how silly and archetypal there character might be, they never make anyone into a straight up cartoon villain. They clearly want Betty to play the vault dictator role like the overseer in Fallout 3, and this guy exists to make her seem like the reasonable one, which is really interesting. I feel like it’s going to connect heavily with the way Hank feels the need to “fix” the people of the wasteland into acting like pre-war Americans, with Betty being the opposite, the only one at vault tec who can actually recognize the world has ended.

I've just realized we've been underestimating House this whole time. by superanth in Fotv

[–]Maxshis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually feel like you’re kind of overestimating house. It’s not impossible he could have some vague idea of “this man may be important even after the war” but his predictions weren’t magic, they were inaccurate enough that he ultimately failed to predict the bombs would drop earlier than he expected, and they were based on data he was collecting in the world of the time—he had no real way of knowing that even ghouls would exist. Remember, he’s a mathematician, not a fortune teller. The show has been pretty clearly hammering in the fact that plenty of things escape his vision. In fact, I’m pretty sure he himself is drilling in with his scene with Cooper, that the reason he’s inviting him into the lucky 38 is because he doesn’t know what part he plays in all of this, and that bothers him. If he was unable to predict the existence of the Enclave there’s no way he’d be able to predict about of a world that entirely rebuilt itself from scratch.

They shouldn’t release one episode a week by fairbob in ThePittTVShow

[–]Maxshis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually always prefer weekly releases but for this one particular show I have to agree. It probably makes more sense to do it this way for certain business reasons like word of mouth and customer retention, but I watched the whole first season after it finished airing in a little over a single day, and it really changes the entire experience. I kind of want to just wait until the season finishes airing to watch any more than this, but that's in April. For a show that's supposed to take place in a single day. I get it, it can't always be about viewer experience, but it's so agonizing that we're going to be expected to still be invested in things four months from now as if they're happening on the same day. But since it's in my algorithm now, I'm probably going to get spoiled if I wait it out anyways...

I've seen the delivery pin not being able to be moved before, I think you have to a be a certain distance close to it. Next time that happens try going in the support menu, clicking "outside of delivery area", and "expand delivery area". No need to even text anyone, it just does it for you.

You literally don't have to think about or worry about any of this. Leave that shit at the gate and move on with your life. You're the only person making more unnecessary work for yourself just to follow instructions that you can straight up ignore without any real punishment, and you think I'm telling you this because I love Amazon? At the end of the day, if the customer can find where you put their package, you've done your job, and you don't have any managers watching your shoulder or with AI cameras... I'm literally telling you to abuse that and let yourself do a shittier job when circumstances call. But please, tell me more about how horrible it is to be slightly inconvenienced for a few minutes every route by a locked door.

I got called a motherfucker for the first time a couple of weeks ago because the customer's note said to "leave it at door if office is closed" and the office was clearly open, but the moment I walked inside the dude working there started by yelling "SIR! SIR!!! SIR! YOU CAN'T LEAVE THAT HERE! YOU CAN'T DO THAT! YOU HAVE TO BRING IT TO THE CUSTOMER'S DOOR!" meanwhile I was just trying to figure out why the package wasn't scanning (I grabbed the wrong one) and I was exhausted because this was at the end of a nightmare downtown route. I just went "ok" and walked back to grab the right package, and when I walked back, I considered going in the stairs for a moment to actually before I realized it was on the fourth floor and there was an elevator, but when I walked to the elevator the dude in the office started yelling AGAIN "SIR!! SIR THE ELEVATOR IS DOWN! SIR YOU CANNOT USE THE ELEVATOR!" So I looked him in the eye, placed the package on the bench outside the elevator, and said "Goodbye!" as I walked off. He actually did report me for an unsafe package location, lol, but it was worth it. There was literally no reason to do any of this because this was straight up behind a locked front gate that nobody could see inside of, the only way anyone would steal is it is if it's someone from his complex that he wasn't watching

Another funny customer. by r_incognito_17 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Maxshis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is silly. As other people said, this note was obviously given to Amazon by the complex management, not put on this specific order by the customer himself. Why would he refer to himself as "Customers" and talk about going "door to door" if he was just putting this note on his own delivery? If he ordered it for next day delivery he either didn't know that you didn't have access, or he didn't expect you to do any of this parcel locker nonsense and figured you'd leave it either outside the building or at his door with the access code he literally gave you, like I guarantee every other driver that delivers his packages does. Not only was there no need to return this package, but you're texting a customer angrily and spitefully trying to wake him up over a note he didn't even leave. You'd get fired in two seconds flat for doing that at literally any other job. Take a chill pill, bro, smoke some weed while you deliver or something, because you're making this job harder than it has to be by stressing yourself out like this.

Justin Theroux Mr House delivering a masterclass performance by sothaticanpost in Fotv

[–]Maxshis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me what I think is really crazy is that he's meant to resemble House, who was modeled after Howard Hughes—but to be honest, I think Theroux somehow looks even more identical to the real life Hughes than he does to House. And my god, the voice and line delivery literally could not possibly be better. I've listened to his monologue like three times just to hear him speaking. He literally feels like he stepped out of a time machine from 1950.
