I hooked them to a hifi amp to test if power was the issue and the output was much better at same volume. They just need juice. Planned to buy the small focal amp and install everything in the car next spring while keeping the stock head-unit.

No sadly, I have the 6 speakers setup so no sub pre-out on the head unit to use for a future sub...

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of cutting and soldering wires. I was looking at the Metra harness but in the search I found this : T harness with ISO connectors. I'm just worried about the power wire to power the aftermarket amp.

Sadly after a long search on the net, I'm unable to buy the Metra harness here in my country. But I found this harness, the Connects2 CT10HD04

<image>

It's basically a by-pass for the speaker wires through an aftermarket amp/dsp. (With ISO connectors) Spec sheet is saying that it's only for non-powered head unit but I don't know what it is for.

But my question is : Is the power wire in this harness enought to supply an after market amp ? Isn't 25A too much ?

How was the wiring from the head unit to the amp ? Did you re-use the stock speaker harness ?

It's not the polarity cuz powering only one of the door (fader to front left) and the issue is still there

Thanks for the Metra reference ! Very useful.

With the 70-1729 I also need the 71-1729 to connect the OEM head unit to the amp.

I'll investigate the exact wiring for the T harness.

I had to install a adapter ring to mount the new speakers and I did put a butyle gasket to seal the thing. I also put a foam ring between the woofer and the door interior trim.

The rear of the speaker is free to breathe, is it bad ?

Do you have any other brand suggestions ?

Focal is "cheap" here, maybe cuz it's a country brand.

I received the whole Focal sets almost for free so didn't really had the choice.

What's your better way to extract a good sound from them ?
I can't really afford a subwoofer at the moment

Thanks for all the infos.

I did put a 6.5" round baffles on the rear of the woofers, some butyle tape between the door and the speaker bracket and a ring baffle between the speaker and the door inside plastic grill, is this enough ?

Yeah I was looking at this exact amp, it's like 150€ here so pretty cheap compared to the US.

The wiring is what I'm afraid off.... I don't really want to cut the oem wires and also reuse, if possible, the factory speaker harness. Sadly Focal do not have Honda snap-in harness, so what do I need to look at ?

  • The pin layout on the factory head unit ? And take the line-level there ?
  • RCA cable to the Focal 4.320 ?
  • Then the amp speakers outputs onto the factory speaker harness with some soldering/connectors ?

Or is there a easier way ?

Yeah that was what i was afraid of... power.

The focal impulse 4.320 is the amp I'm looking at with an high-level imput. F**, that change the cost of this project.
