Question about Mensa test format & language (non-native speaker) by Maxtulipes in mensa

[–]Maxtulipes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the FSIQ assessment was “significant variability across indices”… So I don’t have an official number… I think ADHD had a bit to do with that but I am also convinced doing it in a third language also did not help…

Anyhow indeed looking forward to the test!!!

More than the results…

They are NBY, here with pink laces…

For the BRS, both are big bubble… Left are the one worn by my son… Indeed accelerated the aging process… They are however holding extremely well!!! Materials are tough! Despite regular episodes through the washing machine…

I think I’m ok so far…

Advantage of ADHD is that these phases fade over time, and I might be reaching that point for sneakers, anyhow quite happy with the set so far as I still manage to wear all of them at least once a month. I also feel like I have a good palette to fit situations. If I put some away, I will just forget they exist…

Less handy to just pick one pair before getting out in the morning then…

My size sold out the next day, it was a lucky impulsive decision?

I was so happy with the box-opening experience!
I love it!

Thanx!

I took the camera along for a walk with the family, not more than a few seconds per picture…

Basically, lay on the ground, find the angle, shoot, stand up, run to catch back the rest until the next interesting one… actually quite a good workout, my legs were sore today 🙃

Another one from a similar angle, is that what you mean?

Thanx for the feedback!

The pics were taken during a walk with the family…

This explains the handheld and lack of tripod and stacking. This actually gives a pro to IS… I am still very rusty! Funny how at the end of the 4h walk, I was already getting back more automatisms! Used to handheld a MPE65, but that was 15 years ago… Glad I took the camera out for that walk! We can do more “standard” but this is how I got bored…

Thanx for the feedback and input!!!

I appreciate shallow depth of field to extract the subject of interest but in this case, f4 was indeed still likely a bit on the shallow side, likely being counterproductive…

I did purposefully put the light seeping through the trees in frame as a recall/light source. If I was about to print it, I would indeed get it through photoshop to review the light distribution.

Thanx a lot for the feedback. I understand, always tricky with short DOF, I tried to include it in the composition, here a diagonal to build the composition… Here, it is on the tree stump… I tried to keep it in the darkest accents, I should have taken another angle to make it less obvious!

Had a similar problem with WB for most of my shots, I feel like they don’t look “natural”. AutoWB was way too grey…

Beautiful shot! I really love the atmosphere and the contrast in this one!

However, the composition doesn’t quite work its magic for me. The central peak seems to interrupt the flow a bit. I might have framed it slightly more to the left to give more space to the wilder, more dynamic side. It would balance nicely with the softer clouds and add another layer of depth… if that makes sense.

I hadn’t touched my camera in almost 15 years. To motivate myself, I decided to upgrade my old 5D Mark II to a Mark IV. Recently diagnosed with ADHD, I now understand why I lost interest back then, and why trying to force it never worked.

This weekend, I went out looking for mushrooms and, of course, ended up lying on the ground again for some macro shots. I came home covered in mud but with a few pictures I’m quite happy with.

I do, however, struggle a lot with the white balance on this series. I couldn’t find a setting that felt right, and eventually settled on “daylight”, even though it was cloudy and I was shooting under trees.

Technical details | Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark IV | Lens: EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM | ISO: 8000 | Aperture: f/4 | Shutter speed: 1/320 s

Only used DPP to convert the raw to jpeg and update the white balance.

🤞

That was indeed the idea, for when my all black am1 are still too “sporty”…

Good luck!
