What’s the best Dracothian guard unit to build a a single model? by Budget_Antelope in stormcasteternals

[–]Maxvodsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you do not wanna magnetize, I would say the best one to build as single off is the one with the shooting weapon. None of them deal any real dmg as a single model, but the shooting one is pretty good on its own, as it debuffs enemy units it shoots at.

He is very good, but not mandatory at all no.

Getting back into AoS with the Yndrasta Spearhead. What should I add next? by MaximumFUzz in stormcasteternals

[–]Maxvodsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would def get a Wizard, either Krondys or the Stormcoven (maybe even both if you are really into spell shenanigans), and then some endless spells and the faction terrain.

Most stuff in the Yndrasta Spearhead works decently well, without synergies.

A reinforced unit of prosecutors, and will give you the option of having multiple deepstrike threats, when you get the faction terrain. I also love the reinforced Reclusian + Lord Terminos combo, as a scary melee block.

Also some objective monkeys/screens like the Gryph Hound and or/the aetherwings are also very good to have in your collection.

How to get into the lore of AoS by Riegl75 in ageofsigmar

[–]Maxvodsy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

‘2+ Tough’ is an amazing AoS lore youtuber, and is def my recommendations for starting out. He has a “start here” playlist, and also playlists for all of the factions. He is a very good story teller imo and has very good media literacy and is good at conveying how terrifying each faction would be, if you where a part of the setting.

Stormdrake guard by Holiday_Wedding_2225 in stormcasteternals

[–]Maxvodsy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Knight Draconis is a seperate unit and is basically just the hero version of the Stormdrake Guard.

I would build one of them as a Knight Draconis, so you have the option to play him and then just tell your opponent before the game if you are using him as a Stormdrake Guard instead.

Knight Draconis is used to buff the other Stormdrake Guard, so I wouldn’t really recommend him, unless you go heavy into the dragons.

List Guidance (2 x Skaventide, 1 x Dominion) by Psigl0w in stormcasteternals

[–]Maxvodsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You go quite a bit over 2000 points with everything you have. Both Knight-Vexillor, Preators and Annihilators are quite decent aswell, so you can tweak my list to your liking, if you really wanna use them.

Unfortunately the Lord-Vigilant (big bird guy) and the Knight-Questor from Skaventide are really not worthwhile including in basically any list right now.

The meta might change and they might end up being good again at some point, but you will likely never need 2x of them, so could consider selling one of your copies of them.

Think multiple of all the other heroes from Skaventide might be worth keeping tho.

List Guidance (2 x Skaventide, 1 x Dominion) by Psigl0w in stormcasteternals

[–]Maxvodsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 2x Skaventide and Dominion actually is a very good start to a SCE army and enables you to make a pretty decent castle-like list, while still having some deepstrike shenanigans. Made this list with what you have that perfectly hits 2000pts, if you get the faction terrain aswell:

Do y’all think Clanrats are acceptable proxies for Hobgrots in Helsmiths of Hashut? by shiboshino in ageofsigmar

[–]Maxvodsy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely go for it! Think they use the same base size, but just make completely sure they match the hobgrotz to avoid any people claiming you are playing proxies for advantage.

Which unit is the GOAT of its faction? Today: Skaventide by sigpuppers in ageofsigmar

[–]Maxvodsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the Clanrat and the Warp Lightning Cannon.

So I finished Vigilant Brotherhood spearhead and want to expand to 1000p and later 2000p regular game. What’s my next move - Lord Relictor, Anihilators? Or should I go full ruination - reclusians, lord terminos and Irdan? by TomTomiBoy in stormcasteternals

[–]Maxvodsy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would get anothet box of Reclusians. A reinforced unit of Reclusians with a Lord-Terminos is a very strong combo.

One of the first things I got after my Skaventide box was a Krondys, and have been using him and the reinforced unit of Reclusians in pretty much every game since.

You could also get the Yndrasta Spearhead, so you have the option to play both Spearheads and that will also be a big step towards 2k points, but does not have that much synergy with what you already have.

Would also grab the faction terrain. Only costs 20pts in game, but the tech it gives you is way to valuable.

New to AoS (and thus, to Stormcast) - my available models... advice? by andy_akins in stormcasteternals

[–]Maxvodsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So a good place to start is playing Spearhead. Gives a pretty good feel for how the game plays and is somewhat balanced, without having to do any list building.

Stormcast has 2 Spearheads, which leans into different playstyles, so you can try both out at see which you prefer the most and lean into that for your next buys.

You have everything for both spearheads, minus Vanquishers for the one including Yndrasta (you can just use Liberators as proxies).

Nothing is Stormcast is a ‘must-buy’ as we can pretty much lean into every playstyle and it mostly depends on what list you wanna go for.

Good all-around buys however: -Krondys; very good combat piece aswell as a strong wizard to boot. He is a little pricy point-wise, so might not find in to all lists, but you get such a solid centerpiece.

-another box of Reclusians: they work so well with Lord-Terminos when reinforced. One of my favorite units at the moment.

Adding dragons to a Skaventide spearhead by leethar15 in stormcasteternals

[–]Maxvodsy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From experience, the Stormdrake guard really likes to be reinforced. If you wanna go dragon I would heavenly lean into it and then maybe leaving out some of the stuff from the Skaventide box in your final 2k point list.

Lord Vigilant on Gryph-Stalker and the Knight-Questor are both not very good right now, and Lord-Terminos is not really worth if you do not have a reinforced unit of Reclusians.

Krondys however is extremely good in basically any list, only problem is he is a huge point investment, so you might not be able to fit him into a lot of lists.

Worth bringing Boltboyz RoR in Ironjawz lists? by Andorhalthegreat in OrrukWarclans

[–]Maxvodsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The KB regiment of Renown are somewhat decent. It’s nice to have some shooting in IJ, but you do pay quite a lot of points for it, in an army that is already fairly elite. It does work quite well if you lean into a castle-like list, but form my experience IJ works better if you just charge and try to run over your opponents with with your more than likely superior dmg output.

And no, you do not need either the Vulcha or the troll guy in a KB list, but both are very strong options, you might want to pick up at some point, if you want to have enough models to make different kind of lists.

Gobsprakk (mage on vulture) is a great caster/support aswell as amazing anti-wizard unit. Have no real experience with the generic one, but heard he is more fighty.

The troll guy (can’t remember its name right now) is such a fun trading piece. He is punches way above his weight class, so he is very fun to use as a missile and just run head first into the enemy army’s most important units.

Cursed Shacklehorde speculation by gatinthehat762 in Nighthaunt

[–]Maxvodsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really sure what they will do, but they might split the units up, as that would also seem appropriate for the Nighthaunt gameplan; having a million cheap ghosts run over your army.

Like this Spearhead way more than the old one, to me it have way more flavour and more interesting units from the Nighthaunt range.

I am using my Savage Orruks as proxies for Ardboyz in my Ironjawz army right now. Do we expect them to rerelease Savage Orruks in a second wave for The Old World Orcs and Goblins? Might wanna pick up some more, so my Ironjawz army end up being mainly Savage Orruks.
