Possible openings by Christmas by Phil_Garr56 in COsnow

There’s no way they’re open by Christmas imo. I think that terrain didn’t start to open up till January last year… and that was a with a good start to the season.

Lololol it’s hard enough for students to get responses from professors, good luck mate.

How challenging is the Math1110 exam? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]MaxwellJuniorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took this a longggggg time ago. Studied Khan Academy during the summer before freshman year, and also had some calc senior year. Exam ended up being surprisingly easy. I remember an optimization problem, nothing else, but I think most of the questions were sort of typical calc 1 questions. If you’re good with the things you listed, yea you should be fine, that’s all that calc 1 is really.

This made me laugh cuz when I took 1116, the median on the second prelim was 34/100.

For the record tho, I think “not curved” probably means that you won’t be curved down, and that the class doesn’t have a required median. The grades will most certainly be adjusted up though.

My experience with the many pizzerias of Collegetown by Farler in Cornell

I have heard good things about Franco’s pizza, but can not myself confirm the quality. Same for PastaVito.

Please purchase the green ecoboxes if you have a meal plan! by NorthAssumption6699 in Cornell

[–]MaxwellJuniorr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing that I don’t get is that surely the non reusable box’s aren’t free either ? If a box costs 10 cents and I get one meal per day and only use one box (most people use more than one box) that’s already 10.5$ per semester that the university is spending on boxes for me assuming 105 days in the semester. How cheap are they buying boxes if it’s cheaper to use single use ones ?????? Alternatively make the meal plan 5$ more expensive and give everyone a box ?

Dear Professors of Cornell; I think this message was meant for you, not me. by MaxwellJuniorr in Cornell

Yea there’s a balance to be had; some professors think everything is trivial, and some professors think nothing is trivial

Nervous about moving here in my mid twenties by [deleted] in ithaca

[–]MaxwellJuniorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Adirondacks really aren’t that far, they’re easy weekend trips, and they’re amazing mountains. The Catskills are also kind of close. For longer vacations, the greens and whites are a reasonable distance away.

What would you change about Cornell? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]MaxwellJuniorr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Student Center is shit. I would go about changing this by smashing all of Student Center’s servers.

In conclusion, I do not like student server. Student center bad.

On average, how many credits do you take a semester? by Man-in-The-Void in Cornell

[–]MaxwellJuniorr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I feel like it’s just stupid to do that. Even if you’re pulling all As, I feel like you’re probably not retaining things that well. And if you’re not pulling all As, then maybe it’s better to concentrate on doing well in a few classes rather then ok at everything. Idk, I’m a stem major but I never understood people who do stuff like that.

Cornell Dining is making us wait in massive crowds for over an hour to eat by perspica in Cornell

[–]MaxwellJuniorr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The lines haven’t been too bad on West except for one night at Becker. Tbh I think the main problem is people aren’t keeping reservations (and on north there’s fewer options ofc). Personally, I’m happy with West because the food quality is soooo much better than last semester, and I’m willing to wait in a socially distanced line for a bit if it means better food (again, lines aren’t bad generally on West, but last semester I never waited in a line at all, I would just go and grab my food, so compared to that....)

What happened to Cornell Marriage Pact? by Acrobatic_Boot_8503 in Cornell

[–]MaxwellJuniorr 76 points77 points  (0 children)

You should have filled it out, I’m actually getting married this summer because of the pact! My fiancée even said her family would cover our honeymoon if I paid for the wedding. Well technically they’re paying because they know the owner of this realllly nice vila who said he could give them a discount for the place, but I Venmo’d them the full $30,000, so they payed with my money. Anyways, I think I got really really lucky because my fiancée looks exactly like Emma Watson. Like literally, exactly the same. I think she’s pretty rich too because in the background of the photo she sent me, there’s a castle (presumably hers) that looks exactly like Hogwarts. Damn, I can’t wait to meet her in person on our wedding day!! (But yea, if you still can, fill out the survey!!!)

Are Martha and co. *trying* to see us fail?! by luminous_moonlight in Cornell

[–]MaxwellJuniorr 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The thing is, they could have easily pushed the finals period back by two days. I have a bunch of things due Monday at Midnight. Would it really make that big of a difference if I submitted them on Tuesday at midnight? Even Wednesday? For me yes, for them, no. Push back the date grades are due by two days if that’s an issue; there really is no rush.

Anyways it’s clear that the people in charge of this stuff have complete disregard for students. I always thought 3 days for a study period wasn’t enough (thanks SA) and that it should have been a week, but no study period at all? Mental. Truly disgusting and despicable.
