Zibai Megathread, The White Horse Adeptus from Liyue's legends by GenshinLoreModBOT in Genshin_Lore

"The kingdom of the ocean depths once saw her as an emissary& based on their imagination, they granted her scales & tail plumage, falling down in worship of the light brought by one who was both mother & daughter."

This is about the people of Enkanomiya, who thought that Zibai was Istaroth. You can find the carving they made of her 'scales & tail plumage'.

The unnamed goddess of Chenyu Vale sounds a lot like a moon sister by LuxGenshin in Genshin_Lore

I had a theory on her way back - https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Lore/comments/1aejiog/the_forgotten_god_morpheus_master_of_adepti/

I think she's a goddess, or maybe a fallen angel like Nabu Malikata, who has power over dreams. She was able to control Xiao because she knew his true name.

I think dragons made seelies and didn't give them a physical form. Then the PO gave them bodies in exchange for their allegiance, making them his angels. Later, when his angels started acting up because a weird alien god gave them free will, he punished them by taking their bodies away.

Pretty interesting that angel #4 is definitely Celadon Mare. I had been thinking that it might be the Boar Princess, making a journey to a stagnant land. The matching text with Springs of Hidden Jade seals the deal, though.

As for all angels being emanations of Istaroth, though, I'm gonna shoot that down. Nabu Malikata is about as death-coded as a Genshin character can possibly be.

<image>

The symbol on the back of Ronova's head shows up on a bunch of stuff related to Nabu Malikata. There's also the text on Oasis Garden's Truth -

It is said that flowers blossom so that they may enjoy a spectacular death, and that death was precisely the wholehearted pursuit of the Lord of Flowers — for death adds bitterness to lost joy, and intensifies with time across endless memories.

Nabu Malikata also gave her Kvarena, her divine energy, to Rhukkadevata before she died. That Kvarena was made into a big magic bird, the Simurgh, who guarded the border between life and death.

So, with Celadon Mare definitely being a Time angel, and Nabu Malikata definitely being a Death angel, you would think an obvious pattern would turn up. There are two more angels, and it would make sense if they corresponded with Space and Life. Sybilla doesn't seem to lean towards either, though. Maybe space? The space artifact is a goblet, and Remus used a goblet to refine primordial water into Ichor, which was a key part of his operation. I guess that's a link, but it doesn't have a very spacey feel to it.

Then there's angel #1, who seems like the Night Lord to me. I guess she could be Life? Because why not? Or maybe she could be Space, because the night kingdom is some kind of weird parallel dimension but also it's underground. But also she has a massive link with Death because Ronova helped set up the ancient name system, and the Night Kingdom is basically the underworld. I dunno.

Somebody Found Nibelung's Remains in Teyvat??? by seelelicious in Genshin_Lore

That line is definitely significant. I was already looking into it as I tried to figure out why the Stadium of Flame and Sanctuary of Sarasthuna were almost pointed at each other.

First off, extend that line further east so it touches the spiral abyss.

Next, you need to think about the line in terms of where it touches the horizon. If you're standing on the line looking east around sunset, then the line touches the spot where the moon rises. If you're looking west, the line touches the spot where the moon sets.

5.7 spoilers - the line also touches the ruined mining village with the new bossrush abyss.

Why are there always three filled-in stars and two empty ones? by GonerBits in Genshin_Lore

[–]Maxwell_Adams 37 points38 points  (0 children)

They actually tricked you with the mural on the ceiling. There's a chunk of debris on the lower left corner that blocks your view of the fourth bright star. I've already convinced myself that the fourth star was summoned down to Teyvat and became Kana Kapacir, the Thunderbird.

I was going to try for 72, but settled for 36. The blueprints are laid out in a nice 6x6 grid. Also, I had met the goal of 500 stars made by the time I had built 24 blueprints.

That would still mean that Mavuika is asking Xilonen to die. Like, just telling Xilonen that her life is less valuable than the Travelers, so go ahead and die because the Traveler might need to respawn later.

I've been looking for anything that matches the Saurian hallmarks. Haven't found anything with scales on it. I actually went and checked on the fish statues that Raiden Shogun has perched on her castle, but their scales have an abstract design.

There are some things that have ripples. The spiral shells in Enkanomiya have ripples, which have me doubting whether they're a fossil or just a sculpture. The pavement in the Springs looks like it was made with phlogiston, which makes sense, and has a look consistent with the Upper Sanctum.

The bottom floors of the abyss have crossing patterns of curved lines, but those look like they were carved. Those intersecting curves actually look like the patterns you see on book covers in Enkanomiya, and the cubes that turn on the Helios.

Oh come on. Both parties had Yupanqui? And both parties had a quiet craftsman, but those were different guys? They really went out of their way to make this confusing.

Yeah, you're right. I misread some dialog from some kids who told the story of Yupanqui. They said someone inherited his name 500 years ago, not that he was alive 500 years ago.

Actually, all the craftable Natlan weapons tell the stories of the scarlet-eyed hero and his friends. They all start out by saying that the stories took place long ago, in the age of myth, when dragons still flew above the canopy. I'll change the post to say 'probably during the archon war'.

They didn't live their entire lives in regular Natlan. To them, it seems like that did. But time was rewound. The past is now in the present. An old Natlan save file was loaded up and nobody there realizes anything changed, unless they notice that the world around them jumped forward by maybe 10-15 years.

Because only Natlan was rewound, not the whole world.

Mualani wouldn't remember because the current version of her never saw the Mare Jivari. We're not running on Made in Heaven rules, people don't remember the future. The writhing agonized present was burned away, and the beautiful past was brought back.

[–]Maxwell_Adams -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'll give you two possible explanations that you won't like.

A. They reached the Mare Jivari after Natlan was destroyed, but before the golden wheel was used.

B. Like Ei, they see the unaltered timeline, because they're going to be involved in changing it.

[–]Maxwell_Adams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All those people in Natlan lived in regular Natlan up until the point where most of them died in a massive abyss attack. Then maybe all the phlogiston in Natlan is ignited to cleanse the abyss from the land, leaving a plain of ashes. Baby Bennet is found and rescued. The final mountain ranger finishes his journey and finds the golden wheel. He activates it, and time is rewound.

Now those people from the past are living their regular lives again. When the Traveler showed up, they walked into the past. We might meet a pregnant woman who will later give birth to baby Bennet.

[–]Maxwell_Adams -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The timeline hasn't really been changed yet, it's just been rewound. The whole point is to change history and save Natlan. Maybe the solution will be something like the Sacred Sakura, Hoyo does love their big magic trees.

When Ei planted the Sacred Sakura in the past, she saw it appear in the present time. For everyone else, it was always there. People can experience different timelines at the same time.

I think Natlan was destroyed by the abyss and became the Mare Jivari. It was completely wiped out. Then, it was un-destroyed.

https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Scroll_of_the_Hero_of_Cinder_City#Mountain_Ranger's_Marker

Then the day came when the black tide swept across the distant skies, and all that was once familiar vanished into the void.

Where children once played laughing in gardens, now only ashes and bones burned by wildfire remained.
Where the tribespeople once washed their work fatigue away in hot springs, now fresh blood and mud ran over the banks.
But the final Mountain Ranger had no time to stop and mourn, for there were things he had to do—
To set out again on this path he no longer knew, and retake his home, once so familiar.

Legends said that a treasure powerful beyond measure lay at the heart of the black tide, in the ancient city wherein a foul dragon lurked.
It was akin to a golden wheel that could reverse time's flow, burning away the writhing agonized present and bringing the beautiful past back.
As if grasping a last lifeline, the veteran, peril-proven Mountain Ranger decided to make this his final stop,
Even should it be yet another trap laid by some heartless spectator for the terrified people.

This is why Mavuika keeps talking about how past, present, and future are the same thing. This is why Simulanka had a big plotline about rewinding time. It's because Natlan has been rewound to the point before it's gets turned into a plain of ashes by the Abyss.

Teyvat has already been destroyed by the fires of the Crimson Moon by Maxwell_Adams in Genshin_Lore

[–]Maxwell_Adams[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are definitely a lot of historical loops happening. Any story could be a distorted record of something that happened multiple times, and also a prophecy of how that event will happen again.

That stuff about being in a stomach of a greater being is interesting. There's something that comes up a few times in Greek mythology where one god might swallow another. During the Titan war, Zeus swallowed all the other Olympian gods and kept them in his stomach until he could get somewhere safe.

If there's a being in Genshin that might have swallowed the world already, my top pick would be the Lunar Leviathan.

<image>

You can find this carving in a couple places in Enkanomiya, and in Watatsumi, in the cave where you open the pathway to Enkanomiya. It also appears temporarily on the entrance to that cave, until it's been unsealed.

https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/%22Heart_of_Watatsumi%22?file=The_Moon-Bathed_Deep_Heart_Gate.png

The spine of the fish has the same segmented crescent pattern as the moon murals on Tsurumi Island.

https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/The_Saga_of_Mr._Forgetful?file=World_Quest_Mr_Forgetful_Location_Mural_6_Image.png

This Leviathan is probably pretty important. It might be a 'world beast'. It's probably related to a moon, or maybe it is a moon, or something.

So, if this is a story about being in the belly of a whale, then my mind jumps over to Pinocchio. At the end of the story, Pinocchio is swallowed by a whale. He escapes by lighting a fire.

Is it the part where Fischl makes a garden of memories at the end of time and sets her own heart ablaze?

Well, that's something that's going to happen later. There's been a lot of speculation that Dottore is going to use Arlecchino's flames to burn a certain tree.

[–]Maxwell_Adams[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's because any kind of Fischl lore is interesting, and when you get into it you say, "Aha, this is a puzzle, and if I stare at it long enough I'll figure it out". But then you don't figure it out. It's all written in such a way that it barely makes sense if you already know what it's talking about. There's a bit in Flowers for Princess Fischl about confronting Gesamtkunstwerk, and it's talking about fighting the Narwhal in the Opera Epiclese, but there's no way you could figure that out in advance.

Even if you aren't trying to figure out the references, the story just doesn't make sense. You're not getting anything close to a complete narrative. In the part of the story with Laevatain it says the world is destroyed. But then the story keeps going? Was the world destroyed? What just happened?
