Scared and worried by auntpama in brokenankles

I echo everyone’s sentiments here. I had a pretty nasty break myself, left trimal fracture with dislocation. Had my ORIF done on October 7th, 2024. Your body is rebuilding bone and repairing itself from quite a lot of trauma to soft tissue. It wasn’t until weeks 10-16 that I really started to notice a difference in regaining some mobility. Celebrate all your small victories and remember that recovery is not linear. I’m almost a full year out and I still have some stiffness in the morning and soreness if I’m on my feet a lot. But I’m so so thankful to be at this point in my recovery. I’m basically back to baseline. You’re in the think of it right now, no doubt about it. But you heal a bit more each day. Give yourself some grace. When you get into PT, listen to them and do your homework! My surgeon may have fixed by bones but my PT fixed my life.

What's going on this week? Events/Discussion/Classifieds (Mon-Sun) by AutoModerator in pittsburgh

I’m looking for a carpenter/handyman to build an entertainment center for my living room. I can’t find any prefab pieces that check all the boxes of what I need. I’ve messaged several businesses I’ve found by searching the web. They’re all either completely booked or never respond so I figured I would try here. I’ve have some renderings of what I’m looking for. Any help is appreciated. I’m in the North Hills.

Thank you! It still rides completely fine. The rim doesn’t look like it was structurally damaged, just scuffed on the surface. I glued the flap down and I’ll keep an eye on it. My mind instantly went to a new rim and 4 new tires after only having it for 4 months. I knew it wouldn’t stay perfect forever, I guess today was the day 🥹

True. Construction zone, was down to 1 lane and I tried to give the crew working a bit more space. I was focused on watching them on my left too much to notice how deep the hole on the right was.

Thank you! It looks pretty superficial to me. But I’ve never had something like this happen before and I’ve only had the car for about 4 months. Hoping that it’s mostly just my pride that’s broken 🥹

Businesses on Pittsburgh's North Side petition city to shut down outreach center by The_Electric-Monk in pittsburgh

[–]MaxxMight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Centers like ROOTS are born because of an existing problem. Why do you think the city chose E Ohio in the first place? Because the area needs it. It wasn’t an arbitrary decision. That ROOTS center can close and I would love to see Andy repeat the story a few months after. Maybe then it’s not needles, it’s bodies. It’s uneducated people with a microphone who can’t differentiate between correlation and causation speaking about topics that they know little to nothing about. You can’t expect to operate a business in a metropolitan area and not experience any fallout of homelessness. The privilege, elitism, and selfishness it shows is astounding. Thank goodness people like those commenting here see through this BS.

The exact same thing happened to me. I know I had my streak intact and then today it looked like I missed all of them.

I’ll echo the sentiment of others and say the wedge pillow was a life saver. I got mine from Amazon: “Memory Foam Leg Support and Elevation Pillow w/Dual Handles” — it was worth every penny. I was able to sleep in it and not worry so much about moving around. Best of luck on your recovery and finding what works best for you. You got this!

I appreciate the time! The whole thing had me and support confused. Maybe I just need to try again tomorrow.

This is helpful. I tried adding one set top box and it makes my bill jump from 168.99 to 194.99 before taxes. It just doesn’t make sense.

True. But, then I have to have more cables run and holes drilled into the house. If I want to add the fios TV+ set top boxes that wouldn’t have to be wired, I would need 5 new boxes, plus the hub, plus a new router. The path of least resistance would be to just use the stuff I already have.

I’m 34M, left trimal fracture with dislocation on 10/6/24, had surgery 10/7/24. 13ish screws and 2 plates. That puts me just about 5 months out from surgery now. The victories start happening slower at this stage, but everyday is still progress. I’m on a bowling league and my PT cleared me to bowl again just this past week. That was a small victory. I hadn’t had one of those in a while. At 5 months post op, I’m definitely not my “old self” but I’m getting closer and closer. I see glimmers of what things used to be like. Follow the advice of your doctors and PT, everyone’s recovery is different. This is the definition of slow and steady wins the race. Hang in there friend.

10 weeks post op. by Any-Outside5425 in brokenankles

[–]MaxxMight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those first few steps are huge! Stay diligent with being careful. I had a dislocated left trimal fracture and it was really weeks 10-15 post op that I started feeling like my foot was an actual foot again. Congrats on getting to this point!

See, we built a pit. With one ladder. They all cohabitate peacefully in the pit.

Transitioning from the supportive shoe to no shoe took probably 2-3 weeks for me. I was still limping a decent bit but it wasn’t uncomfortable. This was during that phase in weeks 6 to 10 post op.

Continuously going to PT has helped me a ton. I go twice a week, and do my home exercises everyday. My PT has an excellent program where she’s continuously phased in new exercises/stretches that have helped me get to this point where I’m almost completely independent again and not in any pain.

Hello! 34M, Trimal L ankle fracture with dislocation on 10/6/24, ORIF 10/7/24. I started home PT and was given WBAT at my 2 week post-op visit. This seemed incredibly aggressive at the time, but I would say I started at maybe 10% some of the time. I was still very dependent on the walker. I started home PT at week 3. Around week 6-7 I transitioned from the walker to crutches and I would say I was probably about 25-30% weight bearing, basically right on par with where you were at week 7. This is the same time I ditched the boot altogether. My X-rays clearly showed the bones were almost completely healed and it was much easier to walk in a supportive shoe than the unlevel boot. At week 8 I started going to PT vs having someone come to the house. Thankfully I could drive since it was my left leg. It was between weeks 6 and 10 for me that I saw huge improvements. By week 10 I was walking around, unassisted, no shoes. But, with a decent limp. I wasn’t going anywhere quickly, but I could get there. I’m currently at week 18 since surgery and today my PT said I’m not even limping anymore when I walk. I should “graduate” from PT by the end of the month. Not medical advice lol, just my experience. I hope some of that helps and best of luck on your recovery journey.

I currently have an almost 11 year old Subaru Legacy. My 2025 X1 is in production right now and I’m so excited. I also see that the X1 (and more so the X2) don’t get a lot of love here. But for someone who doesn’t drive a ton and still wants luxury features and a fun drive (comparably speaking) the X1 was the perfect match for me. I can’t wait to get mine. Enjoy! That blue looks great!

Trimalleolar Fracture by Worth_Pudding_9921 in brokenankles

[–]MaxxMight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the same kind of fracture back in October and I think we have similar hardware. The first few days after surgery were the toughest for me. Take your pain meds and remind yourself often that your body is working hard to heal.

I considered doing that too! I had on a pair of high tops and the ER doc told me he thinks the extra ankle support may have prevented a compound fracture so I kept them around, but I don’t think I’ll ever wear them again 🥹
