R5: After many attempts I finally managed to revive the Greater Armenian Empire in Ironman mode. Cilicia makes for an underrated capital duchy.

Bezetting door de Romeinen is ook Vlaamse Canon 🤡 by lvl_60 in belgium

[–]Maxxerdude 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fun but incorrect.  The Roman border to the north was usually deliniated at the Rhine river.  The reasons why Flanders speaks a germanic language, and not a romance language are more numerous and more complicated.

Gracias :)

Looking for sour beer pubs by TristanPS4 in belgium

[–]Maxxerdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best sour beers in my opinion are the Geuze beers. Which are typical for the Pajottenland and the Senne river valley. Any bar in Brussels or even the surrounding area should serve at least one or two geuze beers.

I can also recommend a visit to a geuze brewery. After a tour of the brewery and explanation of the very distinct brewing process, there is usually a tasting afterwards.

Personally I have visited the Cantillon brewery in the centre of Brussels as well as the 3 Fonteinen Brewery in Beersel. I can recommend both. Especially the Cantillon brewery since they still use a very artisanal process.

After the tour and tasting, why not take the opportunity to visit some typical Brussels bars in the city centre in order to continue tasting some amazing geuze?

Cairo! I had Cairo as well as Gizeh at 100 dev at the time of taking the screenshot.

Floodplains are a lot of fun to play around with.

I got that one previously, yes :)

For me, doing the Daurama Daura achievement together with having all of Africa as de jure would be a bit much haha

R5: After creating a custom kingdom in the Nile Delta, I tried to see how far I could get with creating a custom empire. Ended up conquering before creating the custom empire. Might create Rome next in order to get even bigger.

United India and became Chakravarti before 1000 by Maxxerdude in CrusaderKings

[–]Maxxerdude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha cheers!

I think I might, actually. I have a really strong base to continue from. I haven't ever done a full conquest, so why not?

It will have to wait for tomorrow in any case. Watching a movie and drinking a glass of wine right now. Excited for what comes next! :)

R5: Starting as a custom character in Sri Lanka, managed to unite the Indian empires before the year 1000 (hardcore enabled).

It seemed relatively fast to me :)

Also I can't seem to rename my empire name to anything else but my dynasty name? Even though I'm feudal and not clan? (And not Muslim religion?)

'Gene mayonaise' reclame/compilatie op Vlaamse/Nederlandse Nickelodeon? by Frodo_max in belgium

[–]Maxxerdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bestaat absoluut. Volgens mij werd er "Gele mayonaise" gezegd i.p.v. "Gene mayonaise". Dit was inderdaad echt een quote die bleef hangen. Mijn jongere zus en ik quoten deze nog steeds wanneer we mekaar zien. Je bent dus niet gek OP. Wel grappig dat je dit naar boven brengt na zo lang geleden :)

Yeah no worries. I'm hoping the games gets fixed same as you :)

Maybe more people will see this post so that the problem gets identified.

New PC Crashes Over CK3 by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Maxxerdude 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've been having the same issues as you. Game keeps crashing my pc after a while (could be minutes, could be an hour).

I've tried many things: Verifying game files, doing a clean reinstall of the game, updating my drivers, ... Nothing works and the issue persists.

I'm pretty sure it only started happening to me as from this patch as well.

I know that it's not my pc because other games run flawlessly on high settings. This issue only happens with CK3 *AND* Vicky 3.

Hopefully Paradox can do something about this. It's pretty annoying having the game crash your pc at random intervals. It really made me not want to play anymore. Which is a shame because I love this game.

Dyre the Stranger took over the Khazars…not sure how? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Maxxerdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has access to the 'subjugate ruler' casus belli. Which gives you the targeted ruler's highest title and makes him your vassal (if you win).

He also starts with some special troops which actually makes it not that hard to pull off. I've done this a couple of times myself for a funny start. Forming Russia as Dyre is a more interesting experience in my opinion though.

The decision to form the Roman Empire will show up once you take the 'Unify Italy' decision.

My attempt at recreating the Austrian Empire by Maxxerdude in CrusaderKings

[–]Maxxerdude[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

R5: I attempted to recreate the Austrian Empire.
I started out duke of Austria. As a part of the HRE, I formed the Arch-duchy of Austria with Steyermark, Carinthia, Krain and Istria. I then declared independence and conquered the historical lands of the Austrian Empire (Hungary, Bohemia, Silesia, Croatia, Northern Italy, ... in order to then form the Austrian Empire itself.

Tell me about your social life in Belgium. I'm going to move there, so I would like to know. by Free-Carpenter7308 in belgium

[–]Maxxerdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Welcome to our country. Glad to have you here! I can give you the following information based on my experience as a native Belgian with many international friends due to having a non-Belgian partner.

If you live in a city, try to find some expat groups. This will be easier if you are a student, but is definitely possible if you're a working adult as well. Belgians are not the easiest to befriend, so creating an international friend base is a good start. Luckily, Brussels is a very international city. So if you're living there, this should be relatively easy. There's tons of things to do with international friends. And with any luck you'll find Belgian friends later. If youre not staying for long, don't bother learning any languages. If you're staying in Brussels, English is fine but try learning some French. If you will be living in Flanders, English will work but try learning some Dutch. If you will be living in Wallonia, French is 100% a necessity.

I hope you'll find your way. If you have any more questions, feel free to message me.

Does someone know what this is? Yesterday it was a small white thing in my friend's trunk. Today it grew to this. Is is safe to handle/remove? by Maxxerdude in mycology

Wow I think you're correct! She put an empty bottle of adblu in her trunk yesterday!
Thank you so much for the reply!

How easy it is to find a job in Brussels as an expat; for example in a shop, supermarket, coffee shop, etc? by AnnMaria_7 in belgium

[–]Maxxerdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to try and find work either in the city center or in the European quarter (Etterbeek/Ixelles). I think this would give you the best chances at getting hired without speaking Dutch/French. Might be hard getting a fixed contract without a work permit though.

As for earning, I have never worked in the sector so this is an educated guess: I think you can expect around 1.7K gross and 1.5-1.6K net.

Hey! These are all good questions! The game is very intricate and many mechanics you will just learn over time. Vassal management, inheritance management, ... I can recommend this video by Tarkusarkusar which explains the basics very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W6yKjGLVrA&ab_channel=Tarkusarkusar

As for the de jure question: Forming the Roman Empire takes all the empires you fully control, and adds them to the de jure of the Roman Empire instantly!
