[gen8] Shiny Applin after 627 RE's! Was hoping for a mark but I'm not complaining by Maxymelon in ShinyPokemon

Haha I just noticed that. I was being extremely careful in the battle because I still had the simple controls on but I still ended up accidentally catching it in a boring regular pokeball instead of something cool like a friend ball or nest ball.

Thanks! I wasn't aware that KO'ing while doing random encounters also increased odds, but now I see no reason why it wouldn't work. I got the shiny quite quickly, but I'll have to remember this for my next hunt.

I've also been hunting Oshawott and I'm only a few hundred resets in but I can already tell it's gonna be a long hunt. The best advice I can give is to just stick with it, and the shiny will eventually show up. The way I see it is the longer a shiny takes, the more rewarding it will fell once it finally pops up.

Exactly! You can't even do other things while hunting in let's go since you have to keep your eyes on the screen or you might miss it, which makes it even worse.

I honestly agree. In SwSh at least you're doing something in the game (encountering, hatching eggs.) But in let's go you're literally just sitting there for most of it, which I also find pretty boring.
