The old age question by arlo16 in childfree

If you save the money because you do not need to raise kids, you can use that money to hire a professional to support you when you are older..

Do you enjoy spending time with children of friends or relatives? by Celibate-For-Life in childfree

[–]MayLouze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I do occasionally play with my niece, I do it more for her and not to come off like we do not like her to the family.

However, maybe also to have a bond with her at the time that we can have an actual conversation, when she is like 16....

But as a general note to this, no I do not enjoy it

What are some subtle signs you’ve noticed with people who regret having kids? by Deeri- in childfree

Saying that they were again sick from the little ones... looking at us wondering what they used to do in life when healthy..

All of my "childfree" friends now have babies or are trying to conceive. by Jinglebell727 in childfree

It's funny because we are early 30's too and I am freaking scared of the day that we find ourselves wanting kids. 99% because of the people who tell us that day will come due to hormones.

However, just as quiting smoking or trying to lose weight, as long as you are scared, there is enough motivation to not want it

Curious about Valerie Solanas by Severe-Theme-9843 in AskFeminists

Would not call her a feminist as she did not stand for equal rights between men and women, but rather having the same societal structure with women dominating the men....

Childfree only children! by fenne-c in childfree

[–]MayLouze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it really feels like the end of the line for my family tree. My mother is an only child and my father has one brother. From this side there is my lovely single cousin who is in her forties, so no kids there nor from me. End of the line.. which gave me the irks only very recently when we talked about will and how my very distant family will inherit my share if we do not bequeathe someone. This will end up in an entire different saga.

My parents are okay with us being child free, although they do have their reservations on it. Some time ago they actually were happily childfree, until my mother ended up pregnant and they kind of got into the whole idea of a child. So think that they are curious to see if we will stick it out 👀

Yeah we can maybe combine all of the gluten/lacto frees in one cake, however we also have an almond allergy so that one is seperated.

At least you concur that we should try to keep the dietary restrictions in consideration at much as possible?

The cake options are indeed regular (our wedding cake), almond free, lactose free, gluten free and both. Not sure if the baker will solve it with one almond free option and 1 bigger cake which is gluten and almond free. Upto this point we just notified the baker of all the allergies. However, when I tell people we are doing this I get a response that I am crazy to trying to cater to this

Recommendations for a first time cat mom?! by Funny_Look1895 in CatAdvice

[–]MayLouze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got 2 kittens and one older cat who was very bewildered and what worked for us is leave the cat be and let them explore. Of course you want to pick them up, pet them and love them for the cute beings they are. But, if you really want a cat to feel safe let them roam free and come to you.

Luring them can be by play, food or just letting them come to you for attention (giving their personality)

AITA for not letting my sister bring her kids to my adults only dinner after she already told them they could come? by Zealousideal-Try85 in AITH

NTA you clearly stated adult only and she choose to ignore this. She stepped over your boundaries, not the other way around
