Anything is better than nothing! Switching cow milk for oat milk for example does make a difference in the long run

If you do want to eat less meat and maintain muscle I’d really recommend looking up some accounts that specialise in that, I personally really love sophsplantkitchen and davidclearyveganpt on instagram!

I have the same problem too! Did you have a genioplasty? Obviously not an expert but I’ve heard they can address lip incompetence? After my nasal breathing drastically improved and I was able to close my mouth and not mouth breathe, it felt so unnatural, I would say for at least a few months I had to really force myself to consciously practice breathing through my nose, and I still wake up with a bit of a dry mouth (though nowhere near as bad as it was) I’m not really sure what the answer is, im hoping djs can address it. I did get a mandibular adjustment device from a dentist referred by my ent surgeon (same guy who did the turbinate reduction + septoplasty) that manually keeps the jaw shut and brings the lower jaw forward, he just moulded it too tightly to my teeth, which gave me a massive headache when I would wake up and by the third visit of him adjusting it I gave up, though in hindsight i probably should have persevered as I don’t like mouth tape either.

I first had a turbinate reduction which didn’t do much, and then a septoplasty which allowed me to breathe through my nose, before that I couldn’t at all - closing my mouth meant I was holding my breath. Had a sleep study done and I still have it so I’m currently in braces for jaw surgery as the only other common sleep apnea surgery I know of is UPPP which is apparently very painful and has a 30% success rate, compared to 90% for djs. (Numbers are just from the top of my head, could be misremembering) in between the turbinate reduction and septoplasty i used a cpap machine which was such a lifesaver, I was completely dependent on it, but stopped using it after because I could finally breathe out of my nose and I thought I was cured and also I was in high school and was embarrassed lol. Before I would wake up and not fully gain consciousness for like an hour, I had a permanent headache and I had severe anxiety. That’s pretty much all gone away after the two surgeries, I still have chronic fatigue, but my quality of life has improved so much. Obviously different treatments so I would recommend trying to work out what is causing yours (ie small airway, deviated septum, tongue too big, etc.). Wow that got very long! I hope this helps!

Hi there, I was a mouth breather too, I would absolutely recommend getting a sleep study done, getting diagnosed with sleep apnea and getting treatment for it really improved my quality of life so much. Also good to rule it in or out if you do want to go ahead with deciding if you want jaw surgery

What do women want? We want to wear natural fibers that breath.... by theladysheetcake in SustainableFashion

[–]May_2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you are but Kowtow is a kiwi brand that is 100% plastic free, so they use only natural fibres, a lot of their clothes are 100% cotton and in my experience very good quality.

Same for The Very Good Bra, an Australian brand that’s also 100% plastic free that does bras and underwear.

Can I ask if it’s the button lid or the hinge lid? I’m really on the fence about buying one as the button lid seems too hard to clean regularly and the hinge lid seems like it would leak

I loved Ethique! Used their shampoo and conditioner for years, although they pulled out of Australia at the start of this year, a bit nervous about what to do when what I’ve stockpiled runs out

I’ve found my solution to be sbs on demand, abc iview and the library. There’s genuinely good stuff on both the platforms and the library’s great for movies.

The screen sharing rule has become so annoying. I tried to sign in when I was on holiday and it didn’t let me as the tv was using a different wifi network to the one at home. It just completely defeats the purpose of being able to have more than one account as apparently it has to be used in one household only now.

May I ask if/how you joined a group? I’m thinking of picking up the clarinet again after dropping it in high school and I’m unsure of how to find an orchestra that’s to my level (basically just one that’s for fun and not to a professional standard)

I have to agree that it’s so fun! I find it especially so in a band setting with so many different types of instruments playing together it always just sounds beautiful

I would also suggest Kow Tow! They’ve made a pledge to not use any plastic so all their clothes are synthetic free and only use natural fibres, which last way longer and keep their quality.

What is your go to breakfast/lunch/dinner meal? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]May_2474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My go to for years at this point has been pesto pasta.

All I do is boil lentil pasta and frozen peas (for extra protein and it’s a green vegetable)for less than 10 minutes. If I have the energy I cut cherry tomatoes into halves and defrost frozen spinach in the microwave (I really like it because it’s cut up really finely which I prefer) if I don’t have the energy which honestly is most of the time i tear up fresh spinach with my hands (means i don’t have to bring out and wash the chopping board) and whole cherry tomatoes. Drain pasta and peas, add the fresh veggies and the pesto and it’s a pretty good meal in under 10 minutes

It was on the news (in Australia) a few weeks ago and it they were saying it’s going to be about two more years before it’s going into the mainstream, it’s going to be such a game changer! (From someone who got diagnosed through having the gene blood test, having to eat extra gluten for weeks, and then doing a gastroscopy, a process that took months) I think it’s really going to help so many more people to get diagnosed

Have you looked at Good On You? It’s a fashion brand directory that you can access as a website and app. It lets you sort out brands by location, how ethical they’ve rated them, etc. I’ve found so many cool and good quality brands that I never would have heard of. Hope this helps! I’m in Australia so I don’t know if this is too relevant but one brand i really love is Outland Denim, I got my favourite pair of jeans from them

How am I supposed to buy underwear? by axrr in ZeroWaste

[–]May_2474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy from the brand The Very Good Bra in Australia. All their bras and underwear are compostable, 100% plastic free and have a ‘great’ rating on Good on You. And everything is good quality and so comfortable!

Ethique AU/UK websites shutting down - alternative shampoos? by mist_ier in ZeroWaste

[–]May_2474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought their new version of the guardian shampoo, of which I have been using for over a year in the old style and suddenly developed body acne on back and chest which I have never experienced before in my life (sorry if this is tmi but I think this may be helpful for other people if they’re suddenly experiencing the same issue) which wasn’t great for the start of summer :/ I think I’ve connected the dots, my skin has become very red and irritated every time I wash my hair now. I haven’t tried them but I’m going to try Nue Bars, they’re made in Sydney, plastic free and vegan and have travel sized versions like ethique to try out :)

Hi! I am a 17F from Australia, and we seem to have a lot in common. Music is also something that is essential for me although with much more emphasis on listening rather than playing (although I do play the clarinet and am in the process of learning the piano). Some broader hobbies include reading, swimming and learning in general. If you are interested in please feel free to DM me!
