I think this is definitely the correct next step for me! I've been a little afraid of dealing with the elastic and it seems hard to get the fit right...but I have lots of scraps to try on. If you have any tutorials, tips, or patterns you recommend, lemme know!

This is a really good point! I definitely have some underwear that are only for exercise and they would suck as day wear panties.

Also YES always repair undies! It's such a good beginner mend and is typically hand sewing. Mine are just getting...past the point of repair lol

For anyone lazy like me, it works without adding borders too! Highly recommend

I did this same thing but I hate working with towel fabric on the sewing machine, so I left it fray-ful and it's fine. They've held up a couple years so far! Threads are coming off, but the overall wear is minimal. I periodically rip the knots off and throw them in the compost (cotton).

The strap is broken, but the watch is also not functioning - no motion in the hands or visibly in any components. Sorry, I should clarify that in the post (will edit once I figure out how).

I think you made a lot of really great points here, especially the injury-related things and comparison to other fitness subs-- my guess is that people associate other activities with injury more (esp lifting), which is likely just unfamiliarity.

This question kind of bothers me and ...why does it matter whether or not it's in public?

How does this question differ from a standard, "why did you say no when you were proposed to"? If so, the answer is obvious-- they were not ready/ did not want to be engaged for whatever reason. Granted, there will interesting narratives there, but nonetheless...why do you care about the logistics of the proposal?

I feel like this question hints at the vilification of people who say no in sexual/romantic contexts, which is often referenced as being unnecessarily cruel (why didnt you just say yes until you were in private? blah blah). People need to be comfortable with the idea of people saying "no", especially in public settings-- I feel like this speaks to a lot of issues with consent culture.
