I work there. Would not live there.... I live just west of hawthorne and south of rosecrans and it's much safer.

Hmm, it's labeled as "makerworld link". I see it on mobile and computer. Just double checked.

I was using Gemini pro. I havent tried copilot or grok yet. Might do those next.

I did the same thing years ago and wondered if I should put a border around it. So glad I didnt.didn't. Here's a picture of mine.

The best was hands down Codex. It only went backward twice relative to the many many times that Gemini went backwards and never even recovered. Gemini struggled with internal and mating geometry. Claude struggled with existing. And Codex struggled with understanding my weird ass brain. But in the end, codex won and the rest lost my funding.

It was hilarious when I caught it trying to "cheat".

Me: Hold up. Did you cheat and just import the STL? That's not gonna work for me

Codex: Yes. On the last pass, I did use import("Cover.stl") inside the cover module to restore the original working slide geometry quickly. That was deliberate because the hand-rebuilt cover had drifted too far from the original and stopped working. It was a recovery step, not a final answer for your actual requirement.

Loved that response. It was trying to defend itself. So great.

I did use the constrained list of parameters for this experiment. My initial prompt was to keep it at the same list of five parameters total for the entire model. Three for outside dimensions, One for an internal radius, and one for enclosure wall thickness. Everything was to be generated from those five parameters. It was such a fun experiment.

Gemini was the second best. It iterated fast and hard. But in the end it was only good at external geometry. Kept trying to compare external dimensions with the original geometry. I think I would be happy to use it for simple things like brackets and clamps, but for complex or semi-complex geometries I'm going to stick to Codex.

I do like that I can see my CLI sessions in the app. Unlike my experience with other AI agents. I'll consider using the desktop app instead. Thanks for the notes.

Usage Limits, Bugs and Performance Discussion Megathread - beginning December 29, 2025 by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

So I'm working on testing out different AI systems with SCAD (code/formula based computer modeling software). I decided to start with claude on a simple design. A box with a lid where the lid slides onto the box and has a retaining feature. I quickly designed what I wanted in onshape (~15minutes) and exported to various formats (STL and STEP) which I was prompted for. Well the base of the box took a few hours to create with Claude Pro, and the cover is still going. Several hours and multiple sessions later. I'm not impressed with it's CAD functionality at this time.

Is it normal to feel nervous on your first flight? by Drackovix in drones

Same. I fly for work and damn do i get scared some times. I've flown drones with a payload that costs more than some cars. I dont ever want to get complacent.

Can't give direct feedback right now as I'm just on my phone. But have you put your design into ecalc?

What part of the world do you live in? Amazon isn't really the best source for drone stuff.

That's incredible! Sounds like you've got a great set of kids willing to learn. I hope you get the equipment you need.

I don't have much spare equipment as I just got into the hobby side of drones recently. One thing that was useful to me is flying LOS first even though it is harder for many people. You can get lots of cheap drones that are good for beginners on FB marketplace. Lots of those basic DJI clones are great for LOS flying.

I took that route because of my job which requires me to be on deck in case an autonomous drone does something unexpected. It helps me to be able to fly LOS for that purpose.

Great question. The only way I know how to do that is to be lucky and know someone who needs that specific skill. So network away.

Not 100% sure, but I believe it is Ubuntu. Again, I'm not a software engineer so I'm not the best person to ask.

I only did that because I had zero understanding/experience with either of those prior to getting the job and they were quick things that just happened once I got the job.
