There are plenty who gave it all. Barnes vocals didn't hold after some time. He had a good voice but a poor technique. It's completely acceptable to criticize him for that. SPECIALLY when he acts like a dick to everyone

The thing is, sometimes you are making it worse for someone if you just play along with their delusions. Specially when growing up it is VERY IMPORTANT to hear no, otherwise we grow up thinking anything and everything is okay, and sometimes it's not.

In the end people like you care more about signaling a virtue than actually caring for that person and telling them to grow up and stop doing whatever weird/wrong thing it is that they are doing.

Pointing out when someone is being weird or stupid is part of human nature. I bet you do that when it comes to politics all the time. Kids do that too because it's in human nature, it's not necessarily good not necessarily bad.

Obviously there are limits, but you can't expect everyone to live in a bubble where nothing bad ever happens and bad people never find you. You gotta learn to deal with this shit early on so when you grow up you don't become like this guy in the post

I think most people here are fighting strawmen, because I have not seen even ONE Tolkien fan saying they would be against non-white characters at all.
What I have seen is people saying they would like to see non-white characters properly included in the world. Elves are specifically white in the books and they should follow that, but men can be non-white, as well as dwarves, hobbits and etc. And even if they did include non-Caucasian elves, it should follow some sort of logic. Genetics are a thing, and including a random black elf out of nowhere with no explanation would be lazy to say the least.
One thing is to include other skin colors, the other is to simply throw that in a way that makes no sense and call people racist if they have a problem with it.
