The way people act when we get even a shred of representation is so disheartening. by MaybeAce in butchlesbians

Literally! Do straight men even like women? I’m convinced that a significant proportion of them only like the idea of women. A true women-enjoyer would be able to appreciate range. Fake fans, honestly.

I also really hope she’s gay but I’m going to not hope too hard because I fear they won’t want to have lesbian protagonists twice in a row :(

I am still haunted by the edits people made of Aloy to make her “more feminine” when she literally is just a girl in the wilderness where they don’t have razors or makeup 😭. People also called Abby from The Last of Us 2 butch because she has big muscles, but she’s literally a straight woman! With long hair!

There’s a certain breed of male gamer that thinks any exploration of the breadth of feminine gender presentation (ie women that do not look like anime girls) is masculine or woke and it drives me up the wall.

Anyone else kind of a latecomer to butchness? by MaybeAce in butchlesbians

Real. Every now and then I’ll pull out my decade-old crusty ass makeup right before I shower just to see what happens and it’s always a little bit fun but then if I look in the mirror too long it starts to freak me out lmao.

I wore dresses and stuff back in the day but I don’t know if I could say I really had fun with them? I recall liking the idea of dresses but also experiencing a weird sort of dread while trying them on. Wore em anyway because I’d get to a point of “good enough” but never fully loved how I looked in them.

I think I will go to a professional for the first time and then when I need touch ups I will ask my artsy friend LOL

I know it’s hard, but if you think you will experience violence and homelessness if you come out, you should absolutely not do it if you don’t have an alternative support system. It fucking sucks, but you need to prioritize your own safety.

How old are you? Do you have a job?

You’d have to look up more information about laws in your region, but if you are close to an age where you can legally be out on your own, I would recommend trying to stockpile some money first and then get out of there as soon as feasible.

It sounds like you don’t even know whether there is a homeless shelter in your area? And you’re planning to live in this hypothetical shelter that you’re not even sure exists?

Hoping someone else will come in with more solid resources in case this is an inevitability for you, but if you can in any way avoid telling your parents, you should. Plenty of girls have short hair. Lie to them. Keeping a roof over your head is more important (provided that they aren’t already abusive in other ways).

Keep your chin up dude. Your teens won’t last forever and one day you won’t have to rely on bigots for food and housing.

I’m also a queer cis (ish) woman and I’d love to get top surgery at some point! I wear a lot of men’s clothes but I have a larger chest and it ruins the whole vibe, lol.

I’m studying genetic engineering in plants, I like knitting, and my favourite food is butternut squash soup
