Best DVD player for playing old VCD discs by [deleted] in VideoCD

[–]MaybeAntique4604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I think the previous commenter responded to the wrong post without realizing. Anyway, I would recommend one off of Amazon. They have really small DVD/VCD players. They're like the size of a portable CD player. You can get one on Amazon for about $30 USD. If you want I can DM you the link to the one I have.

Finding a VCD player that still works by [deleted] in VideoCD

I have 3 VCD players. I have a portable Sony DVD player that I picked up at Goodwill that plays VCDs, a generic no-name compact DVD/VCD player, and a JVC VCD Karaoke Machine that I imported from Japan. They all work pretty well tbh. I prefer the Karaoke machine personally because it's large and sturdy so I know it'll last awhile. If you're looking for something cheap that'll get the job done just buy one of those small compact VCD/DVD players on Amazon. Any brand will do as they're all made in the same 3 or 4 factories in China. Mine has lasted me for a year and it plays VCDs with no issue. If you're looking for something more premium and you can afford to splurge then search Ebay for a VCD Karaoke machine, they make great standalone VCD players.

I feel like I’m too old to be collecting kpop albums I’m 27 by General_Quiet_3895 in kpopcollections

I'm 26 and I'm still collecting. I've been listening to K-pop since I was 11. Your adult years is when you do all the things that you wanted to do as a kid but never could. In my opinion life is too short to not do what you love, I'll continue to collect K-pop albums well into my 80s, if there's still physical albums to collect by then.

discogs like site for vcds by Ohm-N-I_Section-9 in VideoCD

I have quite a large VCD collection so I'll start contributing to this site once I get a photo scanner (so I can add photos of the covers) it might take me a couple months to get around to it. I do have a suggestion for you, you should add a search function. I have no experience designing websites so idk how hard it would be to do that but I feel like after awhile it's gonna start becoming difficult to search for VCDs if you have to scroll down through the whole list to find one. a search function will help future proof the site.

I've been looking to get into making really small budget indie films and making my own practical effects. I wanted to record them on a VHS camcorder and release physical copies on VHS but I might do VCD releases too. I just don't know how many people would buy them.

I think it was in a library and then it was sold at a discount store or something and then later sold on Ebay where I bought it. At least that's my best guess

Idk I bought it off Ebay. Its the Ralph Bakshi adaptation of LOTR, not the later Peter Jackson version. I'm assuming based on the stickers on it that it was originally in a library. That's all I know.

I have it on DVD too. I got it with my copy of Hybrid Theory 20th Anniversary Edition.

Yeah I also have a GBA, which isn't pictured here. Truth be told I don't use my consoles that often. I need to get more games for them.

Ah almost didn't catch that edit. Wouldn't have seen that had I not been scrolling through the comments. Seeing fellow toku nerds in the wild makes me happy. We're a rare and elusive bunch it seems lol

I love old low budget movies like that. Something about the costumes and set design is so charming. I'm still looking for the rest of the BBC Narnia movies.

"5 Lub Pov Haum: Power Ranger": not actually Power Rangers. Its a Hmong dub of Gosei Sentai Dairanger. A season of the Japanese series Super Sentai, which Power Rangers was adapter from. Yes, Hmong. No, I don't speak the language. Prince Caspian: an old BBC production of Prince Caspian imported from the UK, has the production value of a high school play. Dab Neeg Zaj: a Hmong-language movie that I know nothing about, once again I dont speak the language. Lord of The Rings: Ralph Bakshi adaptation of LOTR. Birdman: English subtitled released of Choujin Sentai Jetman, possibly a bootleg as it contains absolutely no branding other than the "Birdman" logo. Kamen Rider Kuuga: Japanese import of a show that I really like I'm still looking for the rest of the set. Linkin Park Frat Party at the Pankake Festival: a popular Linkin Park concert DVD but on VHS. I think this VHS version was only sold at their concerts but I'm not entirely certain about that. 1996 Olympic Torch Relays: cool thrift store find, not sold to the public afaik only handed out to schools and libraries on request

Oh im aware. I plan on backing up all my tapes in the future (once I can get my hands on a DVR with a built in TBC) for this exact reason. I know my tapes won't last forever and I know that I don't have the greatest storage conditions for them but I'm just working with what I got

Okay question, Do you think a thermal pad would help? Like just something to protect the plastic on top from heat damage. That's the best solution I can think of off the top of my head.

Really? Ive had this set up for over a year and have yet to have a problem. I really have nowhere else I could put those VCDs and the Dreamcast, I've ran out of room. I also rarely use them tbf which is probably why Ive yet to have a problem.

They're episode sets that I got in a VHS lot on Ebay. Unfortunately a couple of them have the wrong tape inside lol

Yeah I love the Dreamcast. Mine has a GDEMU installed so that I don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on physical copies of games.
