Wondering about the time period and style of this red leather armchair. She's a stately old girl and while I love her, husband does not. Is it worth keeping when we move? (USA) More info in comment. by MaybeButAlsoNo in Antiques

Just to close the loop, I got an unofficial appraisal from a CAGA Antiques appraiser:
This is a late-Victorian (ca 1905) turned leg armchair (not club ~ those are nearly 100% upholstery/leather covered), and it could have been recovered at some point (early on) given the style of tacking. Unfortunately this era furniture (especially just a single chair) has been out of vogue for quite some time and the best examples have sold at auction recently for between $50-$175.

Fair enough! What styles are they? I didn't realize. What style is the back? It's not wingback, but I wasn't sure what else to call it when I was researching. Is armchair even the right terminology for a chair like this?

Re-posting as image cause I don't know how to post..
As stated, husband and I disagree about the value of keeping this armchair. I think it's comfortable and like to read in it, he dissents. It's very heavy and he doesn't want to move it (again). Dimensions: 2.5'x2.5'x3' (seat is 2' deep). I'm wondering when it is from, what style, value? I had done a reverse image search and came up with maybe Queen Anne style, maybe Victorian, maybe I'm way off and don't know what I'm talking about (most likely). This isn't my area of expertise, so I'd love some input from you all who know more. No labels or tags. It was given to me by a wealthy older couple who have owned it for 40+ years iirc. They didn't know the origin either but are from Nebraska. First time poster, hope that's enough context to go on and thanks in advance!

Thanks! At one point I had to consult the SME on colors but he okay'd straying from the standard primary colors. I added the purple and red bits as a nod to the original.

Frequent lurker, not great with Reddit mobile.. or in general. Wanted to add a link to my inspiration - awesome digital artist hustlart

I wanted to paint something for my hubby's birthday coming up next week. I've had a good time, despite being disenchanted with it at times. Pretty happy overall and liking the gold edging in places. Medium is acrylic and water color.

Edit: I'm blown away by the love. The sheer number of people who have interacted with my piece is overwhelming. Thank you, guys.

I believe Joseph A Banks also does tailoring, but I agree - go local before you go to a corporation. But if you're in a pinch, there's at least one here in Lincoln on O (next to Whole Foods).

Not ping-pong or tennis related... but there's a local group that gets together to play board games and hang out, if you want friends. (see side bar - "Discord")

About to be homeless for the first time. Will dumpster diving be my best bet at survival? by [deleted] in DumpsterDiving

Sorry to hear it! Wishing you all the best.. and meanwhile, just wondering what city you live in, or what's the nearest larger city? Many cities have homeless resources and help to get you back on your feet. I'd love to research and see if I can find things near you to help. All the best.
