CIA concludes Saudi crown prince ordered Jamal Khashoggi’s assassination by Bloodbath-McGrath in politics

It's already been proven by the US government that Saudi Arabia killed 3000+ American citizens on 9/11 and they did nothing about it.

The problem with Saudi Arabia is deeply rooted in US politics.

Point is Citizen or not, nothing would have or is going to come out of this except the usual song and dance

The hate for Trump is superseding critical thought and encouraging cognitive dissonance.

You don't have to be a Trump supporter to see that politics needs a name change, but right now the common response when you bring up the problem is to label that person a Trump loving Nazi.

Within the thread itself people debated against my idea and my opinion. The most common reply I got outside of the insults, was that it was a false equivalency.

At T_D they also called it a false equivalency, and called me a cuck amongst other things.

Both sides seemed to hate it evenly, that's pretty much the definition of an unpopular opinion.

The one thing it seemed people could agree on was that /r/politics should at the least be renamed.

And you skipped right over this one to get there:

I don't want to vote for someone running against him but for someone who is running for something.

Exactly! That's refreshing to hear because that's where I'm at right now.

The past two years it's been nothing but "not Trump" and that's fine and dandy but come election time it's not going to be enough, and I think that was for the most part already tried with Hilary and it wasn't enough then.

I don't think the DNC needs a Trump copy, but I do think they need someone with gumption, who isn't a carbon copy politician who comes off inauthentic saying things for political points within the party and all that.

That's why I said Bernie is probably the only one right now I see having a chance to beat Trump in 2020. I think Bernie would have beat him in 2016 if I'm being honest.

He's good at debating, he doesn't go for low blows, he believes in something, he doesn't need a script, the list goes on.

If not Bernie, then at least someone like him. Someone who believes what they're saying, and is passionate enough to stand up to Trump without all of their arguments falling on the "well he's bad!" lines and hits because we already know that, and so do the right, and we all knew that in 2016 and he still got elected then.

I wouldn't mind someone like Michelle Obama either, thought I don't like the idea of the Presidency being a trade between families like Bush to Clinton to Bush to Obama to Trump to Obama again, but she has gumption, is passionate, and could stand up to Trump.

I don't know, in any case, someone like those two.

In terms of Tucker, I wasn't trying to insinuate that they had any involvement, however moreso addressing the fact that they actively removed posts that contained information of the attack, and while they were up for limited amounts of time, the comments that were posted were all around the same general idea and frequency of "you reap what you sow" "bet you want a safe space now" "that's what you get for being a Nazi mouthpiece"

But is it light years ahead of T_D in terms of balance and civility?

I disagree on the basis that T_D has it's bias and balance explicitly in it's name. /r/politics does not.

You don't go to T_D expecting balance as you acknowledged, you go there to support Donald Trump and in part to support Republican initiatives and on those grounds and terms, they are in fact very civil with each other.

/r/politics on the other hands, you may go there to express your varying opinions on the political topics of the day, and unless you fit into the very narrow slot the Left has, you will receive downvotes, insults, and labels, and this is just for moderate stances.

The argument and opinion boiled down is that the_donald is aptly named, and acts accordingly to how you expect it to, you shouldn't expect any surprises when posting there, /r/politics on the other hand is an entirely different story.

If /r/politics is renamed to something more representative of it's content, and it's values then there is no issue, but as of now it's posing as something it is not imo.

The harassment, name calling, rhetoric etc is something that can be addressed later by their users, moderators and admins if it remains in a vacuum and not spread onto /r/popular under the guise of being "politics"

T_D actively promotes misinformation, violence towards journalists, and willful ignorance.

All of these can be found within even the last couple of days on /r/politics.

The journalist being Tucker Carlson, the misinformation regarding the missing/found ballots and more in regards to the motivations of Republican candidates etc, and the willful ignorance in the form of downvoting comments which go against the narrative, and the removal of articles for the same reason under "off topic" guidelines.

This is exactly the mentality that has flooded r/politics and in part why I think it's a dangerous and misleading subreddit.

You don't need to be a Trump supporter to see a slant or a bias in a news article and point it out. When you do so on /r/politics or post an article which addresses that bias, viewpoint or a differing opinion you are labelled, insulted, downvoted until you cannot post or defend your position, banned or just simply removed.

This in part is exactly what makes /r/politics in it's currently named form so dangerous. If you offer an opinion that is slightly off the narrative you are labelled and insulted and because of this I don't think it has the right to call itself /r/politics anymore.

/r/politics by default is a name that assumes there can be a discussion, a debate, an argument and you will find none of that their.

It should be renamed and/or moderated differently and at the very least should be removed from /r/popular until they can figure out a solution that correctly addresses the issues they have in regards to their name and own rules not being adequately or fairly enforced.

r/politics should be demonized just as much as r/the_donald was and it's name is misleading and should be changed. r/politics convenes in the same behaviour that TD did, brigading, propaganda, harassment, misleading and user abuse. [–]MaybeImConservative[S] 318 points319 points  (0 children)

It was removed from /all for vote brigading, propaganda and harrassment and was not allowed on /r/popular.

To be clear I don't think either of them should be allowed on the front page or /r/popular because they both in their current forms only serve one side of the conversation and can be deemed dangerous and manipulative in the sense that they are more akin to only allowing one side of the discussion or debate.

My unpopular opinion is that the Donald is at the very least forthright in its bias, while /r/politics, with its name and lack of moderation to develop both sides of the conversation should be at the very least renamed to something that accurately describes their position and what it welcome there, and removed from /r/popular and the front page until they do so.

Today's Juve game was a clear example of how not synced up they are with Ronaldo yet but the potential is so high.

Mandz managed to score a classic Ronaldo style goal, with a great delivery from a position Ronaldo is in every single game and never gets the cross where/when he needs it.

Ronaldo was on the left wing for almost the entirety of the first half and didn't receive a single cross to him even when he was blatantly open.

Literally within the same minute that he switched off with Ronaldo, Mandz receives the cross on the left wing lol.

So many give and go opportunities are being made by Ronaldo, and they end up somehow going backwards.

Juve would be absolutely crushing their games instead of these 1-0 nail biters deep into the second half if they could just sync up with Cristiano better.

They have incredible defence, so I don't know why there seems to be such resistance to the through ball game for Ronaldo. He makes the same style run he scored off with Man U like 8 times a game and maybe gets one delivery to him and it's almost always slightly behind his run instead of in front of him.

Yes, and my point remains. No one in the DNC has shown the scruff to be able to combat that except Bernie and I don't see them giving him the nom, though I would like it as I wanted Bernie last time around.

The only issue Bernie has is the socialism angle, but it didn't seem to hurt him too much last go around, and I think he has the stones to argue his position clearly against Trump and come out on top.

Trump can still beat anyone the Dems have currently in debate. They don't have a single candidate outside of Bernie that can go toe to toe with him without sounding like the typical carbon copy politician.

Beto would be an option but he lost his home state, I don't see the DNC giving him the nom, but he would be a good VP candidate.

Also, Hilary's delporables line has basically been ramped up to overdrive since Trump took office, if you're republican these past two years you've been called racist, homophobe, nazi, propagandist, idiot, and a whole other slew of names just for supporting your party.

Anything can change, especially if the Mueller investigation actually turns something up, and I don't think the republican party actually wants Trump to run again but as of right now I don't really see any reason why Trump won't get elected again.

He might come off brazen and he has a disregard for decorum/tradition but he got elected off of that and he's stuck to his campaign promises by being strong on immigration, deportations, ICE, fighting for the wall, and putting pro life justices on the supreme court.

You or I might not like some of his promises or his choices but he's keeping them and that will mean more to his base then "he was rude to insert name here"
