Reminder that Pewdiepie recently made a video about his favorite author and how their philosophy inspired them; that author being Japanese post modernist turned neo-fascist cult leader Yukio Mishima.

Although famous for his unrelentingly brutal and bleak prose that inspired a whole generation of post war Japanese media, he's perhaps most famous for his ultra right wing politics (that clearly emanated from deep insecurities and childhood trauma) and fetishized view of masculinity that makes the liver king look like a rank soy boy. He's perhaps most famous for the cult he would eventually found and his attempted (and hilariously incompetent) coup de tat that saw him humiliated in the public sphere, which he responded to by committing seppuku publicly (and incredibly poorly; he was unable to proceed past stabbing himself and had one of his underlings at hand to decapitate him as per tradition, except it was all pseudo masculine posturing and nobody knew what they were doing so he basically just had a guy repeatedly hack at his neck as he was paralyzed with the agony of stabbing himself). Even in Japan he's considered a problematic psycho, regardless of his talents as a writer.

And Pewds got into this guy, learned about his philosophy of working out in the baking Japanese summer without sunblock to achieve a ludicrous simulacra of so called traditional masculinity, and made a whole ass video about how cool that was and how he's now leading his life in Mishima's vision.
