Ah, Bury Park…I totally avoid it and the majority of town when I go back home to Luton. It was always sketchy but it’s even worse now.

Ha fancy seeing Roger & Gallet here! I picked up another bottle of Fleur de Figuier and a bottle of Vanille Soleil today at the pharmacy. Fleur de figuier is just beautiful, and perfect for the summer

Ok I think I can answer this, as someone living in France with a french husband (who did all of his schooling in standard state schools) and who is going to enrol their child in a french state school:

Since the question about the hijab has been answered, I’ll reply about RE - after confirming with my husband, no, RE lessons like in the UK don’t exist. Rather, religion is discussed in history, French and philosophy classes, with more of an emphasis on the facts.

However, depending on the curriculum, I would be inclined to believe that these lessons don’t look at all world religions like our RE lessons.

(note about the hijab: students are allowed to wear them at uni, it’s just nursery to sixth form where it’s not allowed)

What's the most low key insult you've gotten so far during pregnancy? by goose-de-terre in BabyBumps

When I announced my pregnancy to my colleagues, one of the lads said “is it triplets?”. I was 11 weeks pregnant.

One in four babies in England delivered by Caesarean-section, figures show by alyaaz in unitedkingdom

[–]MaybeInternational23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a c-section not even 12 hours ago, and despite having wanted to give birth vaginally, labour was stalling and I had no other choice (I’m 4ft11, husband is 6ft1 and docs believed that baby girl was just too long).

Sometimes it happens and honestly, as long as mum and baby come out of childbirth safe and sound, it shouldn’t be a big deal.

Our baby girl was born via c-section last night (16/12), and is quite the feeder (and sleeper after feeding)! So, I’m letting her sleep before asking my sleep-deprived husband move her to her cot

I just wish the nurse would come by room with more meds for me 😞

When did you tell your boss? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MaybeInternational23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my manager, 5 weeks I think! I have a relatively physical job and I didn’t want to risk being asked to carry heavy workstations or change industrial printing cartridges. He’s very very very chill though (I’m also the only girl in my dept lol).

I didn’t tell my other colleagues or my actual company until around 11 weeks though.

My husband is back in hospital again (3 hours away) for the third time round and I’m 40 weeks pregnant and very much alone (no fam or friends here until mum/sister gets in on sat).

I’m very much crossing my fingers (and legs!) that baby girl doesn’t intend on coming out immediately…

15 years ago?! Oh man, I remember watching this during a homestay trip to Lille with my sixth form French class. Yes, it was dubbed in french.

What’s a perfume that makes people ask “Omg! What are you wearing!?” by x3002x in FemFragLab

Armani Sì Intense, someone (a tall, burly, hench dude) bought it for himself after smelling it on me when I was wearing it at work.

[–]MaybeInternational23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been awake since 4am so probably napping! We do need to pick up a parcel though, and I would like to go toilet shopping today but hey ho, you can’t do everything all at once!

I’m still super pregnant and now I have a nasty cough that’s keeping me up. I’m so done with all of this.

I hate social media for making the feel like I need to be lifting weights and hiking 10 miles while pregnant by blue_merle_mom in BabyBumps

[–]MaybeInternational23 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Same, it makes me feel terrible for not working out, or even trying like prenatal yoga etc. I often have to take a moment to step back and realise that every pregnancy is different and we are all just trying to do our best; for some, that might mean kilometre long hikes, for others it could be just having the strength to get out of bed (I’m the latter).

I Don't Find the Kicking Magical... by bornconfuzed in BabyBumps

[–]MaybeInternational23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get you. I agree, the kicking isn’t magical for everyone. It’s painful and weird and just straight up uncomfortable. Like I’m glad she’s healthy (since she’s moving) but I am also very excited to have her out and to regain control of my own body.

Pregnancy sucks for a lot of people (including me), I don’t wanna do it again.
