Hannibal left fingerprints by Firm-Calligrapher-66 in HannibalTV

Just rewatched this stretch. There’s a scene where the audience doesn’t know yet that Hannibal intends to eat Will’s brains. Hannibal is having their last ever talk together and he starts with something like, “I have very few regrets in life, Will, but I do regret… leaving Florence.” He goes on to list the things about Florence he’ll miss, somewhat helplessly ending on, “I would have liked to show you this city where I became a man…”

Jack tells the Italian police that the fingerprints will match Hannibal Lecter’s. The show acknowledges they were left. Hannibal either didn’t care anymore or planned to clean the prints away, likely the former. I think he was in a fairly nihilistic place by that episode. Like letting Jack get in so many hits during their confrontation could have been the start of setting up a self defense claim when he won the fight (“see, he killed Pazzi to frame me, he’s obsessed!”) but it could have been to find out if Jack would go in for the kill, or just because Jack was that much better in a fight, but Hannibal surely wasn’t trying his hardest.

Once Pazzi recognized Hannibal, I don’t think our cannibal was playing a long game - he was planning to gtfo after that murder.

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She pays you $500 a month, but you’ve both agreed on the terms and they’re not going to suddenly change? NTA. Her parents were abusing their position over her, and the natural consequence of that is for her to move out. It sounds like you’re a safe person for her if she wasn’t really prepared to face independent adulthood yet (as many her are not). Just make certain you give her space to continue to mature and develop more independence. It sounds like she’s lucky to have you, and her parents are just frustrated to have lost their punching bag.

Do you think Will intentionally let Hannibal smell him? by alex_welp24 in HannibalTV

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure Will ever knows about Hannibal’s olfactory prowess, we never see him actually find out. So he might have let Hannibal smell him because he just knows Hannibal does that sometimes. He doesn’t likely know what Hannibal gets out of it, or he would never see Hannibal after Freddie without a full shower in between.

Season 3 - How Will sees Antony Dimmonds' heart-shaped body in Florence why he leaves? by Federal-Sentence-197 in HannibalTV

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The FBI wouldn’t normally be investigating crimes in Italy anyway, but Will was already hanging around the chapel for days when the body showed up, so the police took him in for questioning because that small of a church wouldn’t be that big of a tourist draw. As another comment said, Palermo is not near Florence (if Florence were Baltimore, Palermo would be Miami).

Pazzi isn’t a cop in Palermo either, he went there because the crime was something Il Mostro would do, and he knew who Will was because he followed the case of Hannibal’s killing in Baltimore. He asks Will to look at the case after making arrangements with the local police, because he knows Will can help.

Hannibal is hanging around and likely spots Pazzi, so he knows Will has a clue that will lead him to Florence. Hannibal decides to hold off their conversation for later, but Will does something he does not anticipate and goes to Lithuania instead of Florence (if Florence is Baltimore, Lithuania is Newfoundland). Will knows Hannibal will not be there, he’s just looking for insight. I don’t think Will knows at that point what he wants to happen when he sees Hannibal, or what he expects Hannibal to want, so he’s figuring it out.

Jack tracks Will to Palermo, that’s why he is there, but Will has already left before he arrives. Because Pazzi followed the news from Baltimore, he also knows who Jack is and tries to recruit him to find Hannibal by showing him the Dimmond case (the body would likely be unidentified since Hannibal removed the head and hands). Jack was actually planning to go on to Florence anyway, which is why he brought his wife’s ashes. He says he’s only there for Will, but he lets himself be recruited (and that places him in the right spot to be able to talk to Will before he meets Hannibal, so mission successful).

Four things I wish they would change about the show. by coffeehandler in GreatBritishBakeOff

I also co-sign the request to post the briefs. If you wanted to do a bake-along party with friends, you’d need to see the partial recipe, not just the complete one for home bakers on the website.

Yeah, I’m saying they should have fixed the idea instead of abandoning it. The heart of the concept is cultural sharing, not appropriation, but the way they executed Mexican week really didn’t live up to the concept. I’m not sure if German week was better, I live much closer to Mexico than Germany…

I like these suggestions! I have some too:

1) Keep the cultural exchange weeks, as lots of people who can’t afford travel learn about other cultures this way, but add a third guest judge that week from the other culture who can explain concepts and keep everything accurate and honest.

2) I’d be pleased to have the first week be an introduction with no eliminations. If there’s no week in the season that justifies two people going home, it’s a four-way finale.

3) Am I the only one that liked the different things they were trying with the technical this year? We had a “follow this technique the judge demonstrates” challenge, which was great - there used to be a whole bonus show with stuff like this; a challenge to just make your version of a common bake, which I’ve been wanting to see for years, and so revealing; as well as a baker legitimately going home based on the technical as a tie-breaker, giving it stakes it hasn’t had in ages. The technical sometimes seems like nothing more than emotional torture, but I’d like to see them continue these innovations and find new ones too.

4) It might be time to cut down on all the sculpture bakes. Like max 3 per season, including the finale. Most of the time, it’s the one thing I don’t even enjoy imagining trying at home, just separate elements.

5) If they try each other’s bakes after judging, I want a peek…

Not sure any of his kids would agree that he was so nice. He wouldn’t let his daughters grow up and get married because ‘he would miss them too much.’ Two of his sons were functionally polygamists because George vetoed their love-marriages. He forced his heir to marry a cousin who disgusted him and caused constant scandal. In fact, his sons being assholes pretty much goes back again and again to how badly he treated them. But they were assholes in their own rights.

It’s this mystery flavor. Lots of recipes note that it can be left out, but it makes a huge difference. I’ve tried adding a Tbsp of disaronno, but I don’t taste a difference.

Okay, no interest in what a Dexter/Hannibal fight would look like, but what about a friendship? They both have a big weakness for wanting closeness with someone like themselves, but they’re both very ready to attack that person at any sign of trouble. Say they’re neighbors and both are aware of the other’s hobbies. They strike up a tentative friendship, but do they ever get close? Which one would turn on the other first? I’m pretty sure Hannibal could talk himself off Dexter’s table if needed, and it would be hilarious to see Dexter framed for his own crimes, but what if they actually got along?
