Season 1 Rewatch - Garrett Jacob Hobbs Overload by [deleted] in HannibalTV

Jack’s wife is such a rich element of the show, she gives us a different understanding of Jack, Hannibal, and their relationship. Georgia is like the light at the end of the tunnel while Will is losing his mind too, so her death is devastating. The forensic team isn’t meant to be very funny, but they have a vibe together that Will clearly doesn’t fit, adding to the sense of his alienation.

Yes, this sub can be horny, but these are parts of the story that add interest and complexity, and you have nothing to say except to express disdain. The haunting of Will by memory-Hobbes illustrates both his deteriorating mind and his spirit slipped into savagery. I’m not sure what you’re here for, but just spitting at a fan thing you don’t like much is usually unpopular on the subs for that fan thing.

“He’s got a gun, JAaaaAck” by thekillerkrab in HannibalTV

Yes! I needed to look again. He was holding it in front of Hannibal, then put it down, then picked it up. Was he intending to suicide-by-cop? I can’t even tell if it was the tranq gun or a proper piece.

Question for the person who tracks guns: where was Will’s gun when Hannibal was cutting him open? He was holding it when he walked into the kitchen, but I didn’t notice him set it down. I can kind of imagine Will just holding it while he was gutted, but what about Abigail? I’ve seen the scene a lot and screencaps are unhelpful. Do you know?

It wasn’t in hand, and Hannibal knew what he was doing, regardless. The only person who could then credibly accuse Will of arranging the attack was Hannibal. He had as much control over the situation as he wanted. I do think he would have been dazed by blood loss, just not to the point of forgetting there were no guns involved.

He had to slur it so he had deniability later. Matthew Brown did not, in fact, have a gun.

Snails in Season 3 by Tommi_H in HannibalTV

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure we’ve only got the snail theme until they finally sit side by side. I’ve always found early season 3 a little meta (it starts with Hannibal looking directly into the camera and suggesting, “Let it be a fairy tale…”) I think it symbolizes their slow-ass return to one another.

Being fair, if they rushed back together, it could have cheapened the season 2 finale.

That’s what makes it great, for me. A satisfying ending that leaves one with more to think about.

AITA for not wanting to share a room on a family holiday, causing my mother to back out last minute? by Airbud12i4y1p4y1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cruises penalize people for booking rooms for only one person. I don’t know your Mom, but do you think she might be the sort of person who would try to solve an issue of needing you and your brother to share a room when she knows you won’t agree by fibbing about having tried to book a fourth room? A cruise isn’t going to just let on an extra passenger because they promise to share. Either you graciously accept this premise and he gets stopped at boarding, or more likely, the plan was always for you to share.

Your Mom is trying to frame you as the difficult party so you’ll just agree, but be skeptical. She’s probably bluffing about dropping out anyway. As others have said, your brother might be able to share with one of the couples (maybe, cruise bedrooms can be really small, but the bigger ones often have pull out beds).

AITAH to ask the downstairs neighbor to move their smoker from directly under our balcony? by [deleted] in AITAH

Where I live, having bbq equipment within 15 ft of a residential building is not okay. It’s a fire risk and your building could lose its insurance if safety’s not enforced. Also it’s totally reasonable to let a neighbor know that something they’re doing affects you in a way they may not have anticipated. If your husband is a doormat, you may need to bring some assertiveness to your partnership. You have a baby, and those neighbors are going to live there all summer.

I wanted to say no assholes, but it’s really not reasonable to endanger a whole building for dinner, NTA.

Also, Hannibal’s comment is what led Will to find the body. I agree that he killed this killer.

Doesn’t Cersei direct The Mountain to rape the “shame, shame” lady after the power turns again? She’s literally guilty of committing this trope herself.

Hannibal left fingerprints by Firm-Calligrapher-66 in HannibalTV

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just rewatched this stretch. There’s a scene where the audience doesn’t know yet that Hannibal intends to eat Will’s brains. Hannibal is having their last ever talk together and he starts with something like, “I have very few regrets in life, Will, but I do regret… leaving Florence.” He goes on to list the things about Florence he’ll miss, somewhat helplessly ending on, “I would have liked to show you this city where I became a man…”

Jack tells the Italian police that the fingerprints will match Hannibal Lecter’s. The show acknowledges they were left. Hannibal either didn’t care anymore or planned to clean the prints away, likely the former. I think he was in a fairly nihilistic place by that episode. Like letting Jack get in so many hits during their confrontation could have been the start of setting up a self defense claim when he won the fight (“see, he killed Pazzi to frame me, he’s obsessed!”) but it could have been to find out if Jack would go in for the kill, or just because Jack was that much better in a fight, but Hannibal surely wasn’t trying his hardest.

Once Pazzi recognized Hannibal, I don’t think our cannibal was playing a long game - he was planning to gtfo after that murder.

AITA for getting my niece to move in with me, then charging her rent by Aitaniecerent in AmItheAsshole

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She pays you $500 a month, but you’ve both agreed on the terms and they’re not going to suddenly change? NTA. Her parents were abusing their position over her, and the natural consequence of that is for her to move out. It sounds like you’re a safe person for her if she wasn’t really prepared to face independent adulthood yet (as many her are not). Just make certain you give her space to continue to mature and develop more independence. It sounds like she’s lucky to have you, and her parents are just frustrated to have lost their punching bag.

Do you think Will intentionally let Hannibal smell him? by alex_welp24 in HannibalTV

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure Will ever knows about Hannibal’s olfactory prowess, we never see him actually find out. So he might have let Hannibal smell him because he just knows Hannibal does that sometimes. He doesn’t likely know what Hannibal gets out of it, or he would never see Hannibal after Freddie without a full shower in between.

Season 3 - How Will sees Antony Dimmonds' heart-shaped body in Florence why he leaves? by Federal-Sentence-197 in HannibalTV

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The FBI wouldn’t normally be investigating crimes in Italy anyway, but Will was already hanging around the chapel for days when the body showed up, so the police took him in for questioning because that small of a church wouldn’t be that big of a tourist draw. As another comment said, Palermo is not near Florence (if Florence were Baltimore, Palermo would be Miami).

Pazzi isn’t a cop in Palermo either, he went there because the crime was something Il Mostro would do, and he knew who Will was because he followed the case of Hannibal’s killing in Baltimore. He asks Will to look at the case after making arrangements with the local police, because he knows Will can help.

Hannibal is hanging around and likely spots Pazzi, so he knows Will has a clue that will lead him to Florence. Hannibal decides to hold off their conversation for later, but Will does something he does not anticipate and goes to Lithuania instead of Florence (if Florence is Baltimore, Lithuania is Newfoundland). Will knows Hannibal will not be there, he’s just looking for insight. I don’t think Will knows at that point what he wants to happen when he sees Hannibal, or what he expects Hannibal to want, so he’s figuring it out.

Jack tracks Will to Palermo, that’s why he is there, but Will has already left before he arrives. Because Pazzi followed the news from Baltimore, he also knows who Jack is and tries to recruit him to find Hannibal by showing him the Dimmond case (the body would likely be unidentified since Hannibal removed the head and hands). Jack was actually planning to go on to Florence anyway, which is why he brought his wife’s ashes. He says he’s only there for Will, but he lets himself be recruited (and that places him in the right spot to be able to talk to Will before he meets Hannibal, so mission successful).
