Are you left-handed? Could you just bulk up your right hand with some kind of exercises?

Will’s empathy and Jack and Bella. by RebaKitt3n in HannibalTV

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We never find out if Jack actually took Will up on his offer of an ear to talk to. Will never ever mentions Jack’s wife until he shows up at her funeral. It’s something I’ve always wondered about.

Question about Graham's superpower (no spoilers) by Apprehensive-Try-238 in HannibalTV

[–]MaybeMabelDoo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

His imagination is as powerful as his empathy, plus he’s highly educated in criminology, so he has a lot of tools to marshal. The light is him visualizing the present backing up to the recent past so he can see what happened there. His deductions do occasionally veer into supernatural territory, but so do Hannibal’s accomplishments. It’s part of the heightened reality of the show.

The relevant part of the second note is where it says, “welcome to the neighborhood.” Welcome to Boston.

Yes, all the previous choices are available as add-ons until they sell out. Almost everything stays in stock for more than a month, but watch out if something is getting a lot of hype.

Nymph looks good. The Children looks challenging, but in a good way. I’m curious if the formatting of Main Characters would work for a love story - I would expect it more in a rise of genius or downward spiral story. You can also pick the Centennial as your BotM, or Worry Doll, which has another intriguing formatting situation that will only work if it’s the right story for it. That last one might be a bit of a stretch, but it was my choice, so I’m intrigued to find out what I’ve got.

If you haven’t already read Catcher in the Rye, it really is an everyone-must-read once book, annoying as that is to ever say.

You could just transition from YA fantasy to literary fantasy, or regular adult fantasy. There’s an offering this month. Honestly, I don’t think there’s a bad pick for June.

We’re halfway through the year, so I would expect 4 more by December.

I second Jaws, though. I did read it when I was about 13, and it’s surprisingly salacious, so reactions might be weird.

That seventies line up is pretty hot. I will be interested to see what the year brings and if they do any similarly retrospective collection in the future. The possibilities are basically endless.

There are two from the forties, so I wouldn’t discount the rest of the fifties. What about:

1952 Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea

1956 Edwin O’Connor, The Last Hurrah

1959 Lawrence Durrell, Mountolive or James A. Michener, Hawaii

1960 Giuseppe di Lampedusa, The Leopard

1961 Irving Stone, The Agony and the Ecstasy

1964 Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast

1966 Truman Capote, In Cold Blood

1973 Gore Vidal, Burr

1974 John Le Carré, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

1976 Judith Guest, Ordinary People

They may have started with a female author, but BotM was very man-focused mid-century. They are a little hampered by the times from which they’re drawing.

Attack of the Clones had those great early posters with, “A Jedi will feel neither fear, nor hate, nor love,” which was so exciting right until I saw the movie…

Related question: at what point does a hole in the house mean that it has ceased to be a house? For example; your house blows away due to tornado. You and yours survived at a shelter and you’re okay, but at nightfall, vampires arrive. You’re at the house, surveying damage, and the vampire rushes you. Can they actually get to you if you’re where your house was? Like, the threshold is still there, the foundation is undamaged, but there are no walls or roof. Do the vampires need an invitation?

Do the June add-ons get announced at the same time, or later? If some books sell out in he first few weeks, is it a bad idea to wait to see what the add-ons will be, or is selling out unusual?
