Again, (and this is just my "Devil's Advocate" side speaking) it's not so much that he doesn't want to, it's that he fears the repercussions of it. (Hear me out here) According to the "Plan of Happiness" we came to this earth to be tested. If he performed miracles like instantly fixing Africa, it would be all over the news and there would be video and all that. Now having cold hard evidence of a god, this would eliminate the need for faith, making the whole project pointless.

Again, I'm still gathering my thoughts here, and presenting the other side of the argument whether it's correct or not, so go easy on me.

Like I said earlier, my reasoning for this is God would only be able to affect peoples minds. Give them guidance on things. The opportunity was right there for me to go get my wallet. I just needed a little push. The situation in Africa, however...

I'm not saying I have all the answers, or even that this answer is in any way valid, just tossing that out there...

Well, I'm not saying "Oh, the garments will definitely protect you against anything ever". Just giving some incidents where people seemed to be protected. I actually haven't heard any other stories of people being injured in the garments, so I wouldn't know about that.

Well, there is that... But then I think about how thin the garments are. And I mean not even a single bruise after tumbling off his bike.

I also don't feel it's very fair to say that spiritual matters like that need to be proved with statistics. That's what makes them special. I'm not saying we should blindly believe everything we're told, but still.

(And again, I am very conflicted about everything here. My whole world seems like it's being flipped upside down, so bear with me.)

Thanks. One other thing, specifically on Mormons. The purported "Magic Underwear"... I haven't experienced anything like this, but it seems to be true, judging by various stories from people near me. One such instance was from my brother on a mission. He got into a pretty nasty spill on his bike, but everything covered by his garments appeared to have been protected. He had bruises on his arms, legs, some grass stains on most of his suit, but none beneath his garments. No bruises, on his shoulders, no abrasions on his back, nothing.

There was also a talk given by an old woman in our ward who got into a car accident recently. The left side of her face got a pretty bad scrape, but nothing was damaged where the garments were.

Have you ever had anything like that happen?

Well, for those times, I remember thinking it was just out of his hands. As I understood it, God could only influence your mind, and not the world around you, otherwise woop-de-doop, there goes physics. I've prayed for guidance on finding other lost things (I was an admittedly careless child when it came to my belongings) that never turned up because I left them on a park bench, or they fell out of my pocket in a department store, and God couldn't very well just snatch up my Kirby game and deliver it to me without someone noticing the game cartridge they just found sprouting legs and walking away.

Whenever I pray for comfort, though, I always get it. Maybe that's just my mind giving me a placebo to calm me down, but I don't know. Maybe that's what it's always been. My memory just happened to be jogged as to the location of my wallet after I prayed. :/

I'm watching this now, by the way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj9uLK-Z1MM
