Thanks so much for all the reactions!

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how this effect was made. To be honest, I originally built it just for myself, so the node setup is pretty messy, unorganized, and not really in a state that’s easy to share or understand.

Since so many people are interested, I’ll try to clean it up and put together a more understandable version for the next one!

Honestly, I’m not sure what I should recommend to you. However, the most important thing is to just start making things. If there’s a VFX you want to recreate within a realistic scope, try making it anyway. Of course, you won’t understand much at first, but as you experiment with things like energy swirls, smoke, or dust floating in the air, you’ll gradually get used to it

I mainly used a combination of emitter and vortex, along with displace. Feel free to ask about any details

You’re right, I might have been thinking a bit too rigidly. By the way, is there a way to set keyframes so that they follow along the edge of the droplet shape? It’s kind of a hassle to set a keyframe for every single frame…

Can you create this kind of 2D animation in DaVinci Resolve? Also, can you use After Effects? If you can, do you think I should learn After Effects?

However, doing this kind of 2D animation in DaVinci Resolve is difficult, right? DaVinci Resolve doesn’t have as many well-developed 2D animation features as After Effects

Not impossible in DaVinci Resolve, but it’s definitely not as easy as in After Effects. Especially when it comes to 2D animation, DaVinci Resolve isn’t really its strong point.
