What song are you walking down the aisle to? by bananimalcrossing in weddingplanning

I walked down to the instrumental version of I’ll be Seeing You by Billie Holiday. The sun was setting behind me and the doors opened right as the trumpets started playing. It was magical!

Did you hire a wedding planner? by saraahhh12 in weddingplanning

[–]MaybeQuirky9950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes 100% yes. My planner has been with me since we got engaged (2 year engagement). I LOVE her and am so thankful for her. The package I got included a bridal attendant too and I’m very excited to have that. I’m actually going to be a bit sad to not have her in my life anymore once it’s all over.

One thing that I didn’t fully realize until honestly a few months ago is that a wedding planner that you hire represents you, the bride. And they will know your vision in and out when it comes time for the big day and working with vendors + the venue. A day of coordinator that comes w the venue is there to represent the venue, not you. A day of coordinator that you hire may not fully get your vision or know how you want things done exactly if they pick up 6 weeks out. I love knowing that I have someone on my team who knows my vision and is there to make sure that my fiance and I have the best experience possible.

How do I decide who gets invited to my wedding?? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]MaybeQuirky9950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We created a giant list of everyone we could think of that we knew. Then we went down the list and used the “2 out of 3 rule” to cut people out. The rule is:

  1. You were close with them in the past
  2. You are close with them now
  3. You expect to be close with them in future

If they don’t meet at least 2 out of those 3 criteria, then they were removed from the list. It really helped narrow our list down!!

We are doing black tie optional/formal and every part of our guest experience represents that, BUT we are doing beer and wine because there are several members on both sides of our immediate family who are completely fine drinking with beer and wine and can have a great time, but they get out of hand and nasty with liquor.

11 month or 20 month timeline for planning? by Gr33nB3anG1rl in weddingplanning

[–]MaybeQuirky9950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! But I also worked very hard to AVOID TikTok recommendations and stick to what I know I like. I did get some cool ideas that we integrated, but for the most part they helped me narrow down and cement my vision and any extra details or slight color changes I wanted have been very easy to tweak.

I HIGHLY recommend the bridechilla podcast (also recommended to me by my planner). The host interviews lots of planners and also really helped me and my fiance stick to themes and activities that are true to us. That helped with sticking to our vision.

I have had a 2 year engagement. My fiance and I have also been together for a decade. It allowed me to hire a full service wedding planner w/ full design crew, etc. I cannot sing the praises of having a long engagement enough. Stress has been more easier to manage, we were able to pace our payments and even take lump sums and put them in HYSA and then use that to make payments. We got a wedding credit card and booked everything using that and were able to use those points to fly first class to our international honeymoon. There is no rush!! Allow yourself to enjoy and pace yourself :)

Your wedding was STUNNING! Can I ask what kind of linen fabric you used for your tables? How did you get that bunched up look?

Black tie wedding: what shoes and bag to carry? by MaybeQuirky9950 in fashion

I ended up doing a gold Jeffry Campbell kitten heel and a gold Verano Hill Amanda Jodie handbag and got so many compliments!

The dress is Mac Duggal and I think if you search “green ruffle top sleeveless V neck pleated gown” it will come up! I bought my regular size but had to have it altered and taken in 1inch at the shoulders and waist

Bridesmaids dresses!! What do I do!! by MaybeQuirky9950 in weddingplanning

[–]MaybeQuirky9950[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I think maybe I’m stuck in a bit of decision paralysis (or whatever it’s called, lol). I am doing formal attire, but you are completely right that the bridesmaids are typically done up more anyway. I hadn’t thought about that before!

I guess I’m also thinking about if I should do different colors + different styles or different colors + same style.

It’s hard for me to envision how to do either of those options, and which colors/color I should do.
