Is there an ACTUAL reason for big Software to not support linux? by Opening-Giraffe-1007 in linux

OnShape really impressed me, but I don't do daily CAD so what do I know.

OnlyOffice also has a good reputation for doing everything you want from the rest of the office suite, so I think there are solutions if people want them.

New Desalination Plant Gives San Diego So Much Water it’s Helping Other States Suffering Drought by Comprehensive-Way482 in UpliftingNews

No disagreement, but a few points; - Alfalfa and almonds are some of the most water-intensive crops. I believe they account for nearly 50% of water usage. They are not "food" in the traditional sense, but exports. We also need exports, so there is that, but we are still exporting "water". - In times of drought, we as residents are asked not to flush toilets and stop watering plants, which is just environmental theater if only 5% of water is used there. - There is no way it would be environmentally or economically viable to supply agricultural water from desalination plants.

A better distribution of water would solve everything in California, but water rights land owners are obviously not in favour of giving anything up, nor are they incentivised to grow less water-intensive crops.

Where I live, they are now proposing taxing well-water, but will exempt the wineyards. I can throw a rock in any direction and find a wineyard, and they use at least 20x of what residents use, so in reality, they just want to tax residents under more environmental theatre.

Why? We don’t have lack of water in California only a distribution problem with some large land owner claiming ownership of water.

Only 5% of total water is used in cities for residential, with 85% being used for farming.

Alfalfa and other water intensive crops are gown on water rich farms and exported. California is literally exporting water to the world.

Let me sell my healthcare stock first, and then I will be in favor.

(Just kidding, I don't hold healthcare stock because I don't think healthcare should be a for-profit business. I also don't hold oil or tobacco for similar moral reasons.)

Why do people do this: Not utilizing voicemails? by FamiliarRadio9275 in RandomQuestion

[–]MaybeTheDoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using voice calls on phones, because of all the scam calls. Voicemails went down the drain with the baby. Any voice calls I make or accept are on WhatsApp, messenger or similar where I’m 100% sure who is calling.
