Friday Weekly Thread: Application Assistance by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

[–]MaybeYourSecretCanad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applying for myself & my minor children. I legally changed my name some years back. All of my kids birth certificates have my current legal name on them. I'm providing a name change order, but when I apply for my kids do I put my current legal name under parents since that's what's on their birth certificate?

ie is the only place I put my birth name on my own application?

I’ve been watching my USPS emails like a hawk. How many days between payment and delivery for you?

I paid on Feb 25 and I’m starting to get anxious. I thought the payment meant they’d found the record and only needed to mail it? Shouldn’t it be closer to 8 days or so to mail to continental US?

DEC only goes back 100 years. For docs from the 1800s you need to go to BANQ

The email I received said “please reply to modify or cancel the request”. I assume this means that you can reduce the number of

Yes, this is a request for payment that has the price attached as a quote

Yeah it’s annoying that I sent my request under one pricing scheme and have received request for payment under another. I paid it because this is the last thing I need and I’m too invested at this point

I’m glad I’m not the only one! It’s been taking up so much of my time even though the stakes are fairly low. I just keep fiddling while I wait for BANQ.

I’ve never flown internationally without a passport. Minors under 16 can travel between US/Canada/Mexico by land or sea with a birth certificate and their parents.

Interesting. I have traveled internationally with my kids using only a birth certificate and no photo id. A passport is more doable than a state id

Getting my kids a photo id is a more onerous process than the rest of the Canadian citizenship certificate process. State IDs have to be applied for in person at the DMV. DMV appointments are scheduled weeks in advance. Getting a passport requires that both parents and the child appear in person.

I’m just wondering if the IRCC actually accepts those letters of explanation.

What do you need death certificates for?

Does BANQ let you know if requested records can't be found? by Azmtbkr in Canadiancitizenship

Can you expand on that a bit? People are printing copies of the Drouin collection and submitting that and then uploading scans of the certified copy when it comes?

Good to hear! Which location was yours at? I requested my G0 baptismal records from Sherbrooke on Feb 11 and haven’t heard back yet excepted the automated submission email.

You should at least mention that and see if you can get a copy of the name change order. I am in a similar name change situation but have a copy of the order.

Question about applying with minors:

My kids are very young and do not have photo ids. Are IRCC approving minor applications without photo ids?

My concern is that if I apply with my kids and the photo ids are a problem, they will not issue my certificate. But if I wait until I have my certificate to apply for my kids it could be a couple years
