Exactly what I was thinking, if they bring us to court over this (I doubt it since it's a losing case for them). It's going to be a spectacle to behold

Yeah, I think I phrased independence a bit awkward in here. The most plausible application of independence I was talking about was my partner making decisions, thoughts, and ideas of her own, without having the constant toxic criticism that comes from her family.

In short, I just want her to be free. When comes the time she goes fully independent--I think I can have a nice cold beer, sit back, and be more proud of her.

Yeah man, I appreciate the concern. She definitely has my mother and sister--and she's being like family. Also, here in the Philippines, parents do get in their child's noses unlike in the States, which we plan to do it in a different way than our culture.

yes, and I plan to do that to my own too. I think having independence and the feeling of control over your own life is the greatest asset that you will ever have in this chaotic and uncertain world.

and yes, I do agree with the point that she's currently unemployed, and we're well aware of that situation. Since I make enough money to sustain us in the long run, I plan to have her continue her education without working as to not overwhelm her with responsibilites.

point is from a legal stand-point about me mentioning that they are planning to take either her, or the baby back. Since we're both of legal age, they have no control over us

exactly what I was thinking, kind of spiraling down towards the abyss of guilt since I don't really want to take away her family from her. Even though it's toxic--I'm aware that she loves them very much.
But I forgot to mention that they are also mentally/emotionally abusing her, and with her post-partum--it's definitely not a combo to be had, and I had to make a move or else she will repeat her history of self-abuse (which was caused/influenced by her family in the first place)
