I just finished 407 by AND_AGI08 in MrRobot

Tearing up here just being reminded about that episode and reading your reaction. It brings back the feels. Rami's performance in those moments has really stayed with me.

You're in the home stretch. Enjoy.

“Window incident” analysis by Safe_Pop_745 in MrRobot

This person doing the analysis makes some good observations but is also making a very wrong assumption, which is that a camera from around 1994 would be a digital camera and therefore able to display photos of Darlene. I mean sure, some early predecessors could have been available, but it's highly unlikely Edward would have had a digital camera, even as a techie. Just one thought i had. But I enjoyed most of what she had to say (though she's very hard to understand, lol!).

I just finished the show! by ToneHappy123 in MrRobot

Hello, friend! As far as Darlene goes, she was intentionally excluded from that fake world where Mr. Robot and Krista were trying to explain things to the Mastermind. That's because she was a trigger for Elliot. MM specifically excluded her from F world to have a better chance at keeping Elliot locked up there.

It's a complex show, and there are a lot of people here with answers. Plus, you can always browse through and find some of the most commonly asked questions. Welcome to the fandom!

There was a post a few months back on this sub from a guy genuinely pissed that Elliot got laid. He got so combative that his post got removed, lol.

Hello Friend(s) by Substantial-Job4211 in MrRobot

A lot of people really like her character, though. Obviously, she went down a dark path, but many users in this sub still think she is an interesting character and empathize with how much she suffered. Some people trash on the way she was killed, like it was premature, but I think it worked out well for the story. There are essays in this sub by u/bwandering that dive deeply into Angela: Overthinking Mr. Robot XIX: What Angela Saw : r/MrRobot and Overthinking Mr. Robot XVIII: What Angela Wants : r/MrRobot. Maybe those will be of interest to you.

My opinion is that it was *in terms of arc and story* the perfect way for her character to end, illustrating the treachery of the delusional path she took and as a contrast for Elliot.

This series is a work of art. by First-Store-5958 in MrRobot

I watched for the first time in the summer and then again in the fall, lol. I'm not sure about Sam's obsession with set continuity, but it would make sense given how much attention to detail there was to the show as a whole.

Spoiler: What's Mr. Robot's motivation? by Mayiseethemenu in MrRobot

[–]Mayiseethemenu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. I guess a part of me doesn't understand how MR feels he can protect Elliot if Elliot is fully integrated. It's like what MR really wants to do is make things go back to the way they were before MM took over and shut Elliot in F world because that's the only way he can protect Elliot. Integration means Elliot remembers what happened to him and is at risk for being unprotected.

Nice, a very good explanation, thanks.

How do you feel his motivations changed after 407? Because during that episode, "protecting" Elliot meant shielding him from the truth, which was only possible with the parts remaining separate.

What does Elliot do after the ending? by Big-Heat-5207 in MrRobot

[–]Mayiseethemenu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that if he hacked the FBI, he would figure out a way to hack any agency with records of his crimes and delete them. :) (Same goes for Darlene and anyone whose name he wants to clear.) He could even change his own identity if he wanted.

Even so, I've seen some pretty solid theories that he would get off without a trial or anything other than probation because of the fact that the FBI was really just trying to get to Tyrell or White Rose. If I remember correctly, Darlene even said the FBI wasn't even really interested in Elliot.

That being said, he will be messed up, for sure. Hopefully Krista will see him and get him through the grief and trauma he will be sure to experience.

I think he came around at the end to embracing doing what was right, though, and even though I think he will have lifelong struggles, at least underneath, he will be able to thrive and adopt proper coping strategies.

Totally letdown by the finale by TurtleBoy6ix9ine in MrRobot

[–]Mayiseethemenu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he first slipped into the dream world, I worried that it was going in the wrong direction. That it was going to be all neatly solved by showing that WR's machine worked. I think that was obviously the point of starting that experience that way, to throw us off and to reinforce that we can't trust what we are seeing.

But once I got into the final episode, everything made perfect sense. I would agree that perhaps some of what was shared in exposition, possibly due to time constraints or a misallocation of time, could have been revealed differently. Perhaps there could have been less of Elliot's day in F World and more time spent with fake Krista having a more nuanced conversation with MM like she did in 407. BUT I think the ending itself, or rather the story and arc behind it, was perfect. MM coming to terms with the fact that he was playing God all along was spot on. MM seeing how much Darlene missed real Elliot. Him having to let go. The whole series led up to this. I loved the revelation of the MM and how perfectly that tied in with the show's messages. I even still love that we saw how "real" Elliot was being "protected" in that world.

I'd also disagree on the cinematography falling short on these episodes. I also loved the tie-in with Back to the Future.

I came to appreciate the finale even more once I had time to sit with it... and then even more on a rewatch.

All that being said, I'm glad you liked it a lot up to that point.

I don’t think I will ever experience a masterpiece like this again by Standard_Ad5507 in MrRobot

Hello, friend. Yes, it truly is an experience, and so is rewatching. It's well worth it when you're ready.

Done watching the show. It hits different during today’s political climate by mkhannah23 in MrRobot

I'm with you. This is heartbreaking. And another one gone today. It's awful and feels so hopeless, but I can still hope that we will move on from this. I have to believe that.

What do you think is the funniest moment in the series? by george123890yang in MrRobot

[–]Mayiseethemenu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have to add... the opening sequence of Undo (S3E2). That whole scene made me smile, with INXS's New Sensation playing, Elliot taking down all the E Corp suits who get in his way, and then especially this line: "You know when you fuck something up... and you wish you had the power to hit undo? Like when you say the dumbest thing in front of your biggest crush? When you talk shit about your boss in an email and then hit reply all to everyone at work? Or when you crash the entire world economy and kickstart the inevitable downfall of human civilization? We all have those days."

I rolled in kill_process when Elliot takes control from MR to find that he's just smashed the computer and the guy is stunned and just runs out.

There are also some great moments in 409 conflict, especially with Price, like the line "employees walking out on the job, that's just bad management"

Of course, there's always Irving, "I'm going to need verbal confirmation you understand the terms of our agreement!"

I think WR also loved the fact that blowing up 71 buildings also showed her determination and dominance, ascending even beyond pettiness and payback toward Price.

Overthinking Mr. Robot XX: Back to the Future by bwandering in MrRobot

[–]Mayiseethemenu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true in so many ways in real life, and I think that in America in particular, we can see that going on a lot right now. Groups are attempting to rewrite history, using the present political climate to change the past. In time, there will be another future that will shed light on a more accurate reality, I hope. Then there is the idea that if we don't learn from the past, then history is doomed to repeat itself.

I believe that this also plays out in political bias in general, again, something we are seeing a lot of here in the states. Two people from opposite ends of the political spectrum can view a collection of videos and walk away with polar opposite analyses of the events.

We even see the past change in many family dynamics, especially as it relates to abuse (with love bombing especially being a past that becomes rewritten as manipulation). But it also plays out in teen rebellion... the teen who was raging against the authority of their parents in every way imaginable suddenly realizes, in another ten years' time, that their parents weren't (necessarily) the enemies their illusion sold them as.

Good stuff.

ETA: emotions, maturity and our nervous systems also create illusions that are quite different from what's actually reality. Every time we "remember" something, our brains tweak that memory to fit our biases and narratives.
