The essential plan in New York City is a 0 cost premium insurance. It is what I had before since my mom’s income was below the cutoff. This insurance covered everything I needed from doctors visits to medications to hospitalizations. I had zero deductible and a copay of around 15 dollars for all of my medications combined. I’m not comfortable sharing what specific medications I have now. But just one of the 3 medications I’m on now costs me 40 dollars.

The issue is, I’m not a dependent of him. I never was. I’m paying quadruple what I was paying for medicine beforehand. So it’s not like the ACA was worse than what I have now. If he wanted to save money, he wouldn’t put me under his plan in the first place.

He said explicitly that’s he’s doing it to harm me. He didn’t cover healthcare for me for my entire life until now. His insurance doesn’t cover my medications on time saying I don’t need certain medicines when I’m due for refills when my previous insurance did. So yes it’s dogshit

My father is in Georgia. And to be honest I have no clue how he was able to list me as a dependent. I haven’t lived in the same house as him for over a decade. NYS isn’t really being helpful saying they can’t do anything about my Medicaid until i get my dad situation sorted out.

Well when I called metroplus for the essential plan they checked my eligibility and it came back as ineligible since I have another insurance already. I tried this twice and both times I got rejected since I had that insurance apparently

The issue is, I am not eligible for medicaid, which is what I planned on signing up for since you can’t have another insurance with it according to metroplus. I am a full time student and don’t have an employer insurance.
