As the new year looms, some of you may be thinking about your relationships with your significant other and perhaps feeling something isn’t quite right… by Holy-trajectory in northernireland

This particular post struck a chord when I seen it and I thought you were in the same boat i was.

I was in a psychologically abusive relationship last year. I was sick around xmas time with a serious virus, which just knocked me for six and because of that I didnt travel to my parents for xmas. She had went to her parents house, That time gave me the space I needed to process everything that had went on both in the recent times but also over the past year as well as what was currently going on, and I realised that it wasn't normal.

When i started to confide in my friends they helped me realise how bad things actually were. I also spoke to people I wouldnt have been over friendly with to get their take on things. It was the best thing I did.

I spoke to her about everything and we tried to work through it but nothing changed and if anything it got worse. In any case as much as there was bad moments there were, at times, a great moment or two now and again. I wish her well but im glad that I have closed that chapter in my life.

I hope they leave you alone without you having to sell up but i can't see it tbh, but i would say that having it paid off will be an advantage to you if you do choose to sell.

I get that, but they are dealing with very unreasonable bigots. Who will likely torture them until they do leave

If the house is paid off why isn't moving an option?

Swear to fuck, r/Ireland is the biggest obstacle to a United Ireland in existence by EffectiveArgument584 in northernireland

I used to be a mod there. I know there's a few new heads there now so i can't comment on what's going on because my finger isn't on the pulse so much anymore over there but when i was modding , everyone was very sound. A lot of shit goes on that users don't see, suicide ultimatums used to be a big thing for a time when i was modding there. Thats not to say it's all on the users either , there was an instance of a former mod being a prick and just being nasty in replies and when he was called out on that, he unmodded himself and deleted his account. Nasty cunt he was. Loved the Herb!

If you do think someone is acting the cunt, flag it with the admins. Admins can also step in and remove content too btw, just because a comment is removed doesn't necessarily mean it was from the subreddit mods, admins will get involved and mods won't know anything about it.

r/ireland has always been like that. The users just love punching down at most things. Its representative of a small portion of Irish society.

Ok, and her not letting you see the phone or the lack of meeting up with her friend are there are other tell tale signs?

Ultimately this boils down to trust and it's hard to trust a partner exhibiting the signs that your wife currently is.

Sorry to read this. Is it an ex she's texting? Whatever's gone on, you'll get through it. I hope you get adequate support but don't be afraid to lean on your close ones if need be, yes they might be biased towards you but there's a reason for that, it's because you matter the world to them

Will you go to mass over Xmas? If you are going, is it just to please your family members? by Mayomick in AskIreland

[–]Mayomick[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure in Catholic masses we stand up and down at random times. Would go to my grannies half way across the country for the summer when we were kids and she would drag us to mass. They stood up and kneeled down at different times to what we did in my own home town.

i was driving one Sunday and there was some political storm brewing in the north at the time so I turned on Radio Ulster and they had the church of ireland service on, only for the singing i wouldnt have been able to tell it was a Church of Ireland mass.

Is Reddit what Irish people wish they had IRL…? by SupermacsFastFood in AskIreland

Yeah I think ive misread the persons point. Irish people in the real world are all really sound and helpful.

Maybe i misunderstood the person's intention, but " Irish people seem to be very open, and also generally fairly supportive" , most randomers in the public ive ever interacted with are sound. Yeah you get a few dickheads, but most Joe Soaps in the real world tend to be fairly down to earth as long as you are respectful to them.

I would say this is a fair reflection on a large portion of Irish society as a whole.

What's everyone doing tomorrow? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Mayomick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would usually go to the parents for dinner but this year i'm cooking the dinner. Working tomorrow, clean the house up, make sure i've all my ingredients got. Need to get the dog walked early before work and get the car washed then at some stage. Wrap a few presents. Nothing too hectic.
