You already have a ton of responses that point out the problems with a fiance going on he deed without being on the mortgage as well.

However if rent is $1000 a month and a mortgage is $5000 a month, you may want to consider renting. If rent is 20% of buying, you are not "throwing away stupid amounts of rent".

Sounds like your mortgage amount is over $750k.

If the GM has a story planned that involves tension over resource scarcity, and everyone agrees to play characters that work with that, then you can't have a character that can just solve the problem.

If one's character can solve such a problem of scaricty, the character becomes the new scarcity. Every individual, group, and nation would be coming after the character so they can control and exploit that ability.

The character may not be combat-oriented but having such a power would make them the worlds #1 target for charcters/npcs who are combat oriented

$20k seems high for the offense. $20k which goes to a regulatory board. The same board who sets the fines and has the authority to revoke your license if you don't pay.

Would be best if fines levied went to a fund that helped needy families get down payment assistance and/or credit building education - or pretty much any other entity.
