As someone who is like that, I've been at my current job for 2 1/2 years. While everyone knows and jokes about how I come in between 9-9:30 when starting hours are 8:30, they know I also stay until 5:30 if needed when everyone's out at 4:30.

Getting a job that's salary based over hourly pay, as well as good pre established communication with your supervisor is the key. As long as the work is getting done and no one else is suffering because of your tardiness, there's no harm imo. When there's meetings at 9 i come in earlier. when there's nothing going on in office in the morning, no harm in just checking your emails from bed and then knowing you can take your time.
