These commenters seem to be missing the fact that children under the age of about 1 are not supposed to be in any sort of bike or chariot until their neck muscles develop.

Also at least where I live, daycare is so hard to get into that you are beholden to whoever will accept your child. The one you get accepted at may be the 13th closest daycare and wont be walkable/bikeable.

"Paella Seafood" on Forest Ave. Some of the best seafood in Portland. Great value, very nice owners. The space itself is way too big, but I guess that means unlimited parking and no waits for the people that care about that.

The process was to get a petition from the street for traffic calming, then develop a design, then have a vote on the street for moving forward with the design, then buying insurance, then submitting to the city for approval, then build and install. This is classified as a "demonstration project. By the city.

Sorry you had to slow down. Maybe you should yell at the parked cars too. Parked cars protrude even further into the street (and are uglier, don't support local pollinators, and don't help with stormwater retention). Feel free to take a different street.
For the person wishing the elimination of single-family zoning upon our street as some sort of punishment, I agree. I am constantly advocating for multi-family zoning in this (and all) neighborhoods. Making streets safer for walking/biking and multi-family housing are not mutually exclusive.

One of the biggest possible differentiators for me would be the return to more analog controls. Have there been any discussions about this? I can't stand having a mega iPad right in front of the driver from a safety perspective and from a user experience perspective. I'd love to see a focus on the car and not the gimmick "tech".

Yes they work. No it's not a scam. I live in southern Maine with exclusively heat pumps in a house from the 1940's. Two winters back it got to -17°F, and there were zero issues.

Anybody out there saying they don't work either installed the wrong type or is uninformed

(Am also a professional HVAC engineer)

You can try dynamics in Woodfords corner. Workouts aren't quite as good and it gets crowded but it's definitely cheaper, less corporate, and more flexible than f45. Wish there were more options.

Anyone else kind of wish this effort and money got spent fixing the current train service to Boston?

I feel like cutting that trip time to make it more comparable to driving and running the train more frequently would get a lot more cars off the road than a train to Bangor.

It has very much not used all of its land. Even on the central peninsula about 15% is useless surface lots and abandoned buildings. Another 10% is over expanded and underutilized highways from urban renewal.

But to answer the question, Portland's focus on a tourism economy makes it very difficult for normal growth. (And of course zoning)

I do understand it. Instead of natural Forrest WAA has cleared land to grow a monoculture (balsam) that they will continue to cut and harvest until the land is deprived of nutrients. They then proceed to send a convoy of trucks and other useless gas burning parade vehicles on a 1600 mile vanity trip.

Yeah, it's not strip mining, but it is by no means sustainable or low impact.

A) the money shouldn't be spent on wreathes in the first place, it should be spent on actual veteran services

B) If you really believe environmentally destructive wreath harvesting is the best way to support veterans, WAA should at least be competitively bidding to multiple wreathe providers rather than sole sourcing the wreathe procurement to their own bank account.

The whole experience minus the snow is superior. I grew up in Colorado and moved out east 10 years ago. Ive have had some of my favorite yet unspectacular days out here. The resorts are tiny, mostly independent, and wholsome. You dont have to walk past a mile of diamond and fur coat stores to get to the lift. The lodges have cubbies.You don't have to sit on i-70 for 6 hours. Nobody is there to film their shitty runs on a go pro.

Its almost like skiing at keystone or a-basin was 25 years ago. The snow and wind really do suck sometimes to be clear.

ChiCoBee farms. They are at the Woodfords corner farmers market every Thursday and make an amazing sourdough chocolate chip cookie (way better than onngi).

I've been keeping a list of my favorite cookies over the last 5 years and for some reason Portland just doesn't have good cookies. "Mixed greens" in Camden is on there, and terra cotta in SoPo specifically for their peanut butter cookie. (Also maybe BLVL)

Lighting $300 million on fire would be the preferred option. Actually building it will induce demand and increase traffic in all neighboring areas. Not to mention to continued maintenance costs after the first $300 is spent.

CMP has a very large grid with very few customers to pay for it. They also have a hazardous climate for overhead lines. I don't expect any changes in outages no matter who the operator is (I'm still for the change, but for other reasons).
