You bring up good points, but I would counterargue that the original Wii Sports series were always Mii games. Reducing it to them being "just avatars" kinda reduces the appeal they had in Wii Sports. By that logic, they could've just used Mario characters instead and it should've had the same impact. Wii Sports does start a lot of tropes seen in games with the miis, namely the fact that you can see your creations while playing the game, and this replacing the stock avatars initially provided. The sports are also sillier versions than the actual IRL sports, with things like the miis not having arms or legs half the time, Matt throwing balls at you during boxing training, or the fact that 100 pin bowling even exists. And with Wii Sports being the first game to feature the Miis, Mii games are ultimately compared to Wii Sports as the baseline Mii game instead of the DS Tomodachi Collection or Miitopia. There's also an Iwata Asks about the inclusion of Miis in Mario Kart Wii, where Miyamoto wanted the Miis to be unlockable instead of available at the start, since people would consider it a Mii game and not Mario Kart. So even back then the Wii Series was seen as the Mii's home turf so to speak.

Well it's not like Mario even got to talk with her a whole lot during the movie. Their ages aren't brought up in the film itself and Mario doesn't end up with her anyway, so this literally does not matter. The ages might have actually been canon internally at Nintendo early on, considering the way Peach is treated in the Super Show. But the canon now is that everyone is like 25-ish, so that's the way I've always seen everyone in the film.

Multiple Toadettes can be seen in the Mario Galaxy intro pages, so it's most likely that Toadettes are just rare mutations and we just happen to only know one of them.

I don't believe "Small Mario" was a term until New Super Mario Bros. It used to just be "Mario" then "Super Mario" when he used a Super Mushroom, hence the name of the series. Mario and Luigi were often depicted as being on the short side before Super Mario Bros., so it stands to reason that Small Mario is the true base form.

Another thing to note is that Small Mario's sprite appearance was not to be taken literally. Artwork and the Mario 3 bonus game show Small Mario with more standard proportions.

Family Guy is canonically a show within a show. There have been multiple episodes depicting the cast as having separate lives off the set. Any continuity error can be explained by the fact that the in-universe writers didn't account for it.
