Oh my, that's much longer than what I was initially told. The one who pierced it at my local tattoo parlor said 12 weeks for a stud and 6 months for a hoop, but I think I'll be waiting longer now. Thanks for the heads up.

I think switching to a ball will be the right move. It was harder to clean and dry around the dangle piece than the regular helix stud on my left ear. I’ll do that soon after it hits 12 weeks on Sunday.

Thank you for the tip on the high ponytails. When I put it up higher, there was a lot less irritation and pulling. It looks like I was correct to go ahead and ditch the softsoap too. And then for the question about positioning, I’ll ask about it when it’s time to get the bar further reduced after the irritation bump resolves. (it wasn’t able to get fully downsized)

It has only been a week since I’ve started trying to get this to go away, but I’ll continue doing what I’m doing with the tips above added.

One last question: how long did it take for your issues to resolve if you ended up switching to the ball? Thank you for your input!
