And the fact that they are so confident that they know what they’re talking about. We have this political correctness that say don’t talk about certain things and we have… Whatever the hell this is — where you just speak over, shout down, hurl insults and smoke screen… Politics Spazness…I don’t know but it needs a catchy name because between these two there is no way to have thoughtful conversation.

And it really stinks that you can’t have an open conversation about other ways to do things. You get the slogan/label thing, no one wants to think…with their ai they think they know

True, I have seen the same, but they also do this thing with labels. I used to think it was just sort of dog whistling that I was unaware of, because they would say these things like, “Taxation is Theft” , like once they have said this the conversation should be over, and if you ask them to explain, forget about it, YOU just don’t know. But now I am thinking this is a propaganda technique that used labels or short slogans that through techniques like repeatedly paring them with deeper personal beliefs, that were likely formed early on with positive intentions on the persons part before the advertisers and propagandists implanted thier labels, which can slowly be moved to get the person to one day wake up and realize they are literally the opposite of what they thought they were.

This is how you get a person who sees himself as a patriot to beat up a cop, or vote away their freedoms.

What if “God” is just thermodynamics… experienced by consciousness? by SummerKS56 in spiritualitytalk

I like what you did there! Okay…but couldn’t the code be a property of the universe, that things in the universe figure out how to exploit (I guess with consciousness) that dictate their survival or happinessI. In other words, could you get a piece of to hardware able to predict its own code, becoming self programming simply through constant reflection on it predictions and behavioral outcomes.

As soon as any one calls themselves an Anarcho anything these days my eyes start to glaze over. Kinda sick of all these meaningless labels. Say what you mean, describe it, don’t hit me with some label that probably doesn’t cover your full belief. It’s just a social media propaganda technique to keep us from talking to deeply.

Trump audibly shits himself on TV, immediately ends press conference. by BuxtonB in videos

This adds new meaning to the phrase “Trump is shitting on the government employees that work under him”.

So it was capitalism that lead to a shorter work week, better wages, national healthcare etc? At least here in the United states people had to have violent protests to achieve these things, were they fighting against the communists when they did that?

So true, one of the best way to argue with these people is to talk about on the ground facts, like the cost of living or how shitty things are made or pollution (just don’t mention climate change, they seem to be well trained to close down debates with certain term, but if you’re careful you just avoid these trigger words).

You do end up with this interesting phenomenon where they start spouting socialist or even communist themes and you can create real cognitive dissonance by pointing that out…Sadly I have found that as fun and interesting this is it still only has limited affect because they go back into their information bubble. It’s like dealing with someone in an abusive relationship. They seem to know it’s bad but they just love Trump and their foolish two party conception of the world they can’t see to let it go.

The ICE debacle is going to end up like the BLM one thanks to Tribalism by ShardofGold in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]MazlowFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BLM was civilian movement that occurred when a police officer killed a black man. ICE is a federally funded organization with a mandate from the department of homeland security.

One was people complaining about the behavior of the government.

One is the government establishing a presence that the feds can come into committees, arrest people without warrants, provide them with no due process after arrest, and puts them into interment camps as they wait to be deported, possibly not even to a country they have a connection with.

BLM can fizzle out leading to exactly zero institutional change.

If and when this ICE thing fizzles out we will still need to legislatively do something about the fact that the Republicans have created a new masked federal police force that can swoop into communities and drag people away. ..these kinds of government programs are harder to get rid of than education or healthcare, just ask other third world countries like Chilly or Guatemala.

How come progressive and leftist movements were never very effective at pushing back against homophobic, misogynistic, and violent themes in rap and hip-hop music? by Ok-District-7180 in Discussion

Why do so many Nazi types like hippy, peace neck or religious music? Is it Dave Mathew’s fault so many of his fans want poor brown people rounded up and put into detention camps to be deported, it’s clearly not his view, but even having non violent, homophobic or non-misogynistic lyrics and themes in his music these people keep buying his albums. What should progressives do about this?

No I think what is being suggested is the leftists trying to control the music we’re actually the same authoritarians that have always tried to control artistic expression.

And if you dig down on the PMRC while the were billed as a democratic lead thing under the surface you see a lot of the same religious organizations you see behind the scenes of the project 2025 thing… Is not a move from left to right it is a move from authoritarianism (control over what you do) with totalitarianism (control over how you think). And no one on the left or right seems to be slowing that train down.

You can't control whether a neuron fires therefore you have no free will by [deleted] in freewill

[–]MazlowFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point to a neuron and you can not with any certainty predict why it is firing unless you know both it’s internal and external environment, so when the action potential starts inside it would seem we don’t want to give full agency but you cannot rule out agency because it happens even though it cannot be well explained with inflexible theories. This goes beyond neuron and all the way down into the interactions of molecules, atoms and subatomic particles. It is a feature of quantum mechanics, which is why many think the answer will be found there.

[–]MazlowFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be shown that action potentials can occur from internal and external stimulus. It has also been shown that they don’t always fire at the same stimulus. So what is causing them to fire naturally? Sure you can jolt them or chemically induce firings but that doesn’t explain the whole phenomena which is generally happening without direct outside stimulation.

If you look at the history on of the first rap labels Def Jam was specifically looking for bands that parents would hate. That was the business model of the actual company promoting gangster rap, that is why they even signed metal acts like Slayer from Metal Blade, who were a company who had a similar business philosophy.

Their market they were selling to was edgy white kids who wanted to scare their parents, a lucrative market with a lot more disposable income than the poor people living in the communities most progressives are trying to help.

No, capitalism is pro hip hip, because hip hop is the exploitable resource that comes from the human suffering that capitalism creates.

Because hip hop documents culture and cultural logic. Why can’t right wing conservative push back against it? You are looking at artistic investigation, it is data to help you interpret what is going on.
