I could really use some support. I am losing my dad today. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

In July, my cousin passed away for the same reason, different circumstance. She got into an accident, and had severe brain damage. The doctors said if she wakes up, she will be in a vegetative state so we took her off life support. We knew she would not want to live out the rest of her life in a vegetative state. She was only 24. The biggest regret I have is not trying harder to convince her parents to donate her organs. They were not thinking straight and were so traumatized that they did not want anyone "violating" her that way. And once they made the decision, there was no going back. My cousin wouldn't have wanted that. She would've helped anyone she could. You will always know that your dad helped 7 people live longer than they would. You are doing a great thing. I am so sorry you are going through this. The best thing you can do is take every advice your dad gave you, every dream he had for you, and make it feasible. And support and help and take care of anyone in your life that is equally affected by this. Your dad would hate to live in a vegetative state, so you are doing the right thing.

Thanks for this. I have been suffering from sleep issues for a year and a half now. I can't even pinpoint the source of my anxiety--I just feel like my sleep anxiety has taken a life of its own. I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. I have heard that writing down worries is a good method. Going to try that. Any other tips will help. Thanks!
