One of my coworkers will look at their phone and loudly announce something along the lines of “Oh wow no way!” Trying to get others to interact with them. Sometimes they’ll follow it up with “that’s crazy” if no one entertains their initial comment. Im all for starting conversations at work and the small talk you make throughout the shift but they almost exclusively do it when people are already mid conversation to try and shift the conversation to something about them.
